So the emperor was either Hoshi or her descendent, right?

EDITL gooseberry fool, it was Georgiou, wasn't it? Sorry, I'm drunk.

The show clearly wants to be grim and dark and edgy, and that works a lot better in the Mirror Universe -- at least to my taste. I don't think the last few eps have been fantastic pieces of TV, but I do think they're above-average for Discovery.

(Heavy-handed moral messaging warning against fascism is very TNG, so I approve of that at least.)

It's just a shite show.

Let's just pick one element

Ignoring how predictable it was - What the strawberry float was Voq's actual plan?

Become a random human to be rescued by Lorca...and then? Lucky for them Lorca put him on as Chief of Security on their Top Secret War Winning vessel. If he'd been discharged, or signed off with PTSD, or ANYTHING he'd have learnt nothing.

He's been there for months and knows how Discovery works. He actively hindered Mudd delivering it to Klingons.

His "trigger" seems to have been words L'Rell spoke to him - but how was she ever planning to meet him to do this?

Then he knows who he is (let's ignore attacking Culber and Fire Wolf)...his plan is to...reveal everything to Burnham and try to kill her? Why? What's he going to achieve? How's it going to achieve his endgame (which this whole stupid plan has been about?) How's he going to get home (with info on Discovery) to restore the Klingon Empire? Why not continue UNDERCOVER to achieve his goals?

Yeah, I don't disagree with that. I do think we'll look back at Voq like we look back at 'Time Guy' in the first couple of seasons of Enterprise -- could have been interesting, implemented badly.

They really had to reveal the truth now because Voq speaking English was so obviously the same actor (even through a voice modulator)

But then why did they need to have Voq? I loved the the "big" lesson Burnham learnt on how to negotiate with Klingons - common enemy for survival.

Aside from some really hokey Attack of the Clones style dialogue and the plot inconsistencies that Hexx mentioned, and the predictable reveal of the emporer, that wasn't a terrible episode.

But honestly the tone of the normal show doesn't seem to work, all the characters seem much more interesting in the mirror universe where they don't have to be the usual boring Starfleet types.

No clue, even after watching the episode. Seriously.

I've watched them and I just feel that there are so many plotholes in the show that I have stopped worrying about it. I just tune in for the expensive and well done special effects - the same attitude I have to most big blockbuster movies now.

Haven't caught up with the latest episode. Will probably watch it tonight. I hope it's better than the last one.

I will still continue to keep up to date with it, but there's a lot of room for improvement with this show.

The production values are nice, but the plot is so nonsensical at times. It feels like they have no real direction with it.

I wonder who they have working with them to keep them on track with canon as best they can. Because it sort of feels like the people making it are new to the franchise and only have a vague idea about Star Trek from the latest films.

It isn't a bad series, but the overall inconsistencies are mounting up to the point where only a time line reset can explain them.

I decided a while back to just not think of it as a Star Trek series, and honestly I have enjoyed it more than Voyager and Enterprise. Not saying much as Enterprise I gave up with after about 6 episodes. But like Samoza, I kinda just treat this like a popcorn movie, and try and ignore a lot of the stupider moments, though I am worried this is going to get harder. Especially in that last episode

The newest episode was actually decent. Some stupid gooseberry fool and predictable twists going on in it, but I enjoyed it well enough.

I wonder how they'll replace the doctor?
Surely they can't bring him back can they?

They said there's other Doctor's on board - he's not "The Doctor" ala Crusher, Bashir etc. I think he's very much the B or C team...

They're in the mirror universe - might be one of him around, and Staments is in CRAZY WORLD so might find/do something

Hahaha, imagine if they just straight-up kidnap Mirror Culber and then never mention it again. I wouldn't even be mad.

Tilly should just remain dressed as mirror universe Tilly.

Decided that I really don't like this series. Its terribly bad compared to Star Trek Voyager. So far theres only been one episode that I truly liked.
