Oddly, Nintendo customer services wouldn't respond to my question...

I have a launch day Wii, linked it to my club Nintendo account and have since bought lots of VC games.

Now I have pre ordered a black Wii and would like to transfer my VC games to the new console. The intention is to sell the old Wii (if I could sell it with some VC games on that would be a bonus!).

Reading some online forums gives mixed results, but is it actually possible to transfer my VC games across or re-download them without paying? has anyone here had any success with this at all? :/

It's locked to the console as far as I know. What kind of money do you want for your old wii?

I was effectively going to sell it as the new packages come - so with Wii Sports Resort, Wii SPorts, 1 remote + nunchuck, a classic pad and a motion plus. Probably looking at around £140

If I could have included the VC games in the sale (over £70 worth I think) then bonus, but not a deal breaker. I just want to move them over to my new machine.

I thought they were linked to your account, and could be transferred free of charge. As you've already said though, I think there are people on here who have been able to transfer things, while others haven't.

Last time I checked (some time ago) you're supposed to clear the VC games off the console, and anything you've already downloaded will be redownloadable via your club NC account on the new Wii... but don't take that as gospel, or anything.

Your Club Nintendo account doesn't backdate games, so if you have bought stuff from the Wii Shop before linking your account with the console, it will have no record of it.

So I called Nintendo today, and they said the only way I could transfer my VC purchases to a new machine would be to send them both, so that they can arrange the transfer themselves....
