March update. Now between 7-8kg down on the start of the year so about a third of my weight loss target.

I'm getting ready to leave NI. Mixed feelings as I'm glad to go but I'm also sad to leave. Left my job on Friday. I go on the 7th April. People were very kind to me in leaving.

Feels like I have rebuild a lot of stuff when I get there  I'm no longer going to be Squinty who lives in Northern Ireland and worked at an office in Belfast. It's a weird feeling.

The strangest thing is, I'm mostly worried about what I'm going to do for a guitar amp. I've put too much thought into that one.

April update: 8.3kg down on the start of the year so April was a little slow. However, did my first 10k run in a while in April so things are ok with the running. Still can't get to the gym yet as my wife and I want our little one to be making it through the first few hours of the night consistently before I start going again. Should see some quicker results when I can but I'm pleased with the 2kg per month average so far this year. I've also signed up for a 7k run in late May, a 10k in June, and I'm hoping to do a half marathon in October. Hopefully I'll have reached my weight target by then as it's been pretty boring avoiding sweets etc.

Thank you. It's been a pretty boring year but once I realised my BMI was over 30, it bounced me into action.

Fairly flat month in terms of weight loss. Had been down 1.5kg on the end of May at one point, but this has inexplicably gone back up to my end of my may weight on my weigh-in this morning. Still my average for this month is way down on last month so averages are still good. Plus it's been very stressful at work. Summer holidays soon so should really be able to think about fitness and not just diet.

June update: only another 500g on average down so another slow month. However, body composition trends are still good (lean muscle mass up 15% since December, body fat 6.5% down in the same period). I'm aiming for a sub 25 BMI which I know is not a super reliable metric of health, but it has always been my target for this year so hoping for more weight loss this month. Also thought I would reach this by October but now it's not looking good. Hopefully things will pick up over the second half of the summer as I do not want to be watching what I eat over winter / Christmas.

July and August update (must have not clicked 'submit' on July!). Strange couple of months. July was JUST down on June (another 500g) on average, but August was really weird: 1.1kg back on. The first increase since starting the new health regime! Probably all related to starting a mixture of interval training and resistance. Exercised every other day through August so was hoping for some really clear results. Hopefully the extra resistance training will impact on metabolism and I can hit my target of healthy range BMI by the end of the year but now have 6kg still to lose.

September update: another 800g lost on average, and my lowest recorded weight so far. Basically back to my July levels so August was a bit of a write-off. Not dieting anymore (had my first beer in 9 months this week) but hopefully I can keep losing weight through exercise. Still hoping for healthy BMI by the end of the year.
