PostNew Zelda Announced to be Announced at E3!

Eurogamer wrote:Nintendo will unveil a new The Legend of Zelda game at next weeks' E3 event, a fresh report claims.

According to French website p-nintendo.com, Zelda boss Eiji Aonuma is quoted on a television programme as revealing the eye-catching plan.

We're run the report by our French colleagues at Eurogamer.fr, and their translation corroborates the report.

"Zelda 25th anniversary: New Zelda to be shown in E3!" it reads.

So, what could the new Zelda be?

The first The Legend of Zelda game was released in Japan on 21st February 1986. 2011 is Zelda's 25th anniversary year.

Speculation points to a Nintendo 3DS game. Project Café, Nintendo's Wii successor, launches in 2012, casting doubt on it as as a potential platform for the mystery title.

Wii game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is rumoured to launch this November.

Squeeee!

I thought the anniversary thing Iwata mentioned at his keynote would probably end up being a compliation, but a new game? Yus!

I somehow can't see them announcing a BIG Zelda game for want of not detracting from Skyward Sword.

Therefore, one could surmise that it could be either a new Four Swords game, or perhaps the much mooted remake of Link's Awakening?

No doubt the Zelda Universe that was trademarked last week.

Im going with a Four Swords Online sequel with the ability to play as any Link from games past with cross platform DS, Wii and 3DS play.

That turned out to be an old trademark application for the official Zelda website.

I don't think they'd remake Link's Awakening because we're supposed to be getting a 3D-fied version on the 3DS eShop.

Sadly that was never the plan. Nintendo announced Link's Awakening for the Virtual Console (in 2D) and some websites combined it with the 3D Classics announcement to create Link's Awakening in 3D, but they're two different services and Link's Awakening is simply the same old game on the Virtual Console.

The reports about this are *slightly* conflicting too. Apparently he actually said the Zelda Anniversary plans will be revealed at E3, which people are assuming to be a new game, but we don't know if that is actually true or not.

Miyamoto did say only recently it would be wonderful to remake A Link to the Past for the 3D Classics, so that might be one part of the announcement.

A new 3DS Zelda would take away from Ocarina of Time, and Zelda HD for Cafe would take away from Skyward Sword. A new 2D Zelda could, possibly, be a safer bet. I'd love to see what Nintendo could do if they give a 2D Zelda the budget of a full retail game.

Called it 8-)

And if it's not that, it'll be Skyward Sword for Cafe.

Doubtful. I imagine they won't want to overshadow Super Mario 3D.

I wouldn't put it passed Nintendo to stick every game from TLOZ to Wind Waker on one Disc for the Wii and maybe do Links Awakening. Oracle of... and Minish Cap for the DS.

I fully expect them to release Skyward Sword on their new machine instead of the Wii.

It wouldn't. People are interested in both anyway. And I'm sure that the team have been dying to make something for 3DS.

My money is on re-releasing the Gamecube Zelda Collection disk on Wii with a new box, rubbish artwork manual and terrible music CD a la Mario Allstars for Mario's 25th Anniversary.

That thing sold alot given it was just Roms on a disc, I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda got the same treatment.
