I don't see the league being able to punish him twice, he's in counselling and is officially apologetic so from a public standpoint he's at least beginning to reform. Because it was a single offence he was never likely to get more than misdemeanor charges and I think that's what the NFL looked at when they punished him.

None of this is surprising because NFL fans are very forgiving in the long run, Roethlisberger raped someone and got a 6 game suspension plus some evaluation and he's playing todaty

They never saw the tape from inside the elevator though, why I have no idea, I would have assumed it was pretty vital to have that evidence, so I would imagine they have some allowance for using new evidence to change a punishment.

Ray Rice Released from Ravens

Holy gooseberry fool that was quick, he must have lied to the team about the incident

So, the Falcons won last night. :( Matt Ryan managed 448 yards with no inception and it's a franchise record for him.

Last night, I saw some bit of Channel 4 NFL and some people think the Falcons is one of the dark horses this year, but I doubt it though. They might do well, but in the play-off they always struggle.

Good news on Ray Rice. Hopefully no-one else will pick him up.

Lions looking good tonight although the Giants are dirt so I guess it isn't too tough to beat them. Megatron entering beast mode once again.

Rice released and suspended indefinitely. Hell have to reapply to the league if he wants to be reinstated. As far as I know the CFL has a policy of enforcing NFL bans so he will not be playing football for a very long time it seems.

Either way the league and the Ravens strawberry floated up their handling of this, either they saw the tape and were lenient until it found its way to TMZ or they didnt see the tape and were negligent in their investigation and didnt have all the facts. Either way this whole thing has been a nightmare for the NFL, but its good to see the right thing was done in the end and we can now all concentrate on the games.

Its a week late but would anyone be interested in a last man standing competition? Usual rules, pick a team every week, they win you survive, they lose youre out, cant pick the same team twice. If theres interest we can start it on Thursday, first prize is the admiration and respect of everyone in the thread and the right to mention that you won in your sig.

I'm game, although my knowledge is likely dramatically inferior to most in this thread.

Not a bad idea. Probably too late to start this week, unless we ignore tonights game. Ill see if a new thread gets a better response anyway.

Thread up for last man standing in case anyone missed it, have a good few names already so this should be a go for week 3.

Also did not see that coming from the Ravens last night, short week, distractions all over the place and they steamroll the steelers, not bad at all.

He is an ass but the bitch should not attack him either.

If she attacked him and knocked him out there wouldn't foul play. They want to be equal so bad why not treat them like that?

If you act like a man, and want to fight a guy be prepared to get knocked out.

I agree to a point. He didn't mean to knock her out looked like a reflex but I had an ex who used to beat on me an I could hit her back cos just can't. I'd hold her arms and stuff by I just can't hit a woman.
