I have been a portable gamer since Game Boy(well Game & Watch was my first love) and I am very happy with console style experiences on my travels. No idea why they are perceived as a bad thing :|

But its nonsense.

You are either looking at the wrong games or you aren't willing to give anything the time it deserves.

Example. Denki Blocks! Its an awesome quality game. Originally a GBA game I believe, its now also on PSP Minis, but its been available on iOS for the last 6 months or so.

There are lots of games on iOS out there that if they were on PSP you'd lap up, even if they were twice as expensive.

I just can't get into gaming on my iphone. I'm in the minority that actually wants the home console experience on a portable console.

I can't stand "gaming" on my phones. It's such a gooseberry fool experience compared to a dedicated machine. It's like playing Farmville on a PC. Just wrong.

Thats just wrong.

There are quality games available on iOS, granted theres lots of gooseberry fool, but you could say the same thing for PSP.

Or any other console. My problem is the fact the games are just so throw away. I can't stand playing on one. Android or iPhone. Utter tosh to me.

For me a portable console is defined by its RPGs as these lend themselves well to portable play.

Currently iOS has:

Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy I and II
Chaos Rings
Ash
Zenonia
Terra
The Chronicles of Inotia II
Hybrid
Ravensword

When Square get around to finishing off Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lion then you can add that too. Throw in the other made-for-portable-play genres like racing and puzzle and really there isn't a comparison, especially when non of the above games are more the £6.

Your list is missing Eternal Legacy :(

Admittedly, it's not great, but it's still pretty fun.

And Chaos Rings has gone back up to being £7.50 :shifty:

How do they control on an iphone?

I'm not saying there are no good games on iphone/android, there just aren't the sort of things I would play when travelling for any length of time.

Pretty much this, right now at least there is nothing that interests me about NGP, whereas 3DS has all of my favourite game series' coming to it.

Hang about!

Now, I'm the least likely person to be leaping up and saying that iOS games are equal to current handheld games, but saying they're all gooseberry fool is a bit too much. There's some real gems on the system. Yes, the control system is flawed, but the games that use what they've got to their advantage and work well are brilliant.

The list that Carlos gave of RPG's all work pretty well, and Chaos Rings looks damn impressive for an iOS game. Certain genres work well on the system. RPG's are one of them.

Nah, I'm just joshing. I can't see the appeal to buy anything on my Droid or iPod Touch is all. I was just trying to spark some conversation.

Ravensword controls terribly. I refuse to play it, even though I bought it on a whim...
