This all sounds like a lot more hassle than it's worth.

Only because you're making it awkward.

Grow a pair (lol, talking about building a computer) and just get on with it.

I like how I'm apparently making it awkward by wanting to walk into a shop and walk out with a fully functioning computer.

The problem is that its almost impossible to do that without spending at least 3-4 times what you'd otherwise pay or come back with something that won't be good enough to play the latest good PC games at close to their best.

That PC Specialist site looks quite good, you'll still pay a premium, but it'll be more like £100-200 rather than multiple times the price.

Thats exactly the kind of answer that makes people hate PC enthusiasts. Its just a dumb stand to take.

Taking any other stand when its clear how many people on this forum (emilythestrange for example) have had massive issues with prebuilds goes against logic itself, and that's why anyone rational would have exactly the same point of view.

That only makes sense if you make the assumption that every single prebuilt PC is of the same quality.

Which is pretty obviously not particularly rational.

Go find a pre-build for under a grand then Hugo that doesn't sacrifice quality somewhere that will eventually come back to bite you later. Either in shitty power supply or unique screws preventing upgrading or anyone but the manufacturer fixing it.

Look how much Tragic spent on his and the amount of threads since where he's had trouble.

That PC Specialist looks pretty good.

Looks like they have a wide spread of parts for you to pick and yes you pay a bit more than if you did it yourself but seems like you could spec up a very good PC from there for well under £1000.

That's not a pre-build. That's buying the components seperately and paying them to put it together for you

You don't buy the components, you pick them and they build the machine based on your picks.

They also do set builds if thats what you mean though.

They obviously aren't their own brand, but they don't have to be.

And there's the traditional Hugo moving of the goal posts.

I like how when I prove you are wrong that I'm 'moving the goal posts'.

You're trying to change the definition of what a pre-build is to win the argument. I pre-build here is refered to as a (shitfest) of a computer that you go buy at pc world or wherever, turn on and hope it doesn't blow up in your face from it's shitty underpowered psu. It is PRE-BUILT.

What PC specialist do is charge you a couple of hundred quid extra to build the pc and set it all up for you from the components you select.

Everyone starting slating pre-builds (rightfully) then you go "blah blah blah build quality blah blah blah" when the only pre-build resembling quality are upwards of £2000+ when a machine of the same spec could probably be built for ~£1000 or less. Then you start harking on about pc specialist being good in reference to them assembling the machine from components you pick, not shitty components you get in pre-builds. MOVING THE GOAL POSTS.

As far as this topic is concerned, a guy asks about buying a PC, he doesn't want to build it himself.

Everyone piles in saying that he has to build it himself and can't get one already built for him. The options are...1. Build Yourself. 2. Buy a prebuilt PC.

If you pay PC Specialist to send you a 'prebuilt' PC, then that has to be a Prebuild. Just because its not gooseberry fool, doesn't mean that it doesn't count.

And like I said, even if you are taking a specific definition that hasn't been made clear in this topic of 'Prebuild' to mean a PC where you don't have any choice on the parts involved. PC Specialist offer those as well.

So like I said, I clearly haven't moved any goal posts and you just can't stand the fact you are wrong.

The final death knell for his opinion.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:
