Development Background
The game’s all-star development team is helmed by producer Yosuke Saito, known for his work on DRAGON QUEST X and NieR. The previous game’s director, YOKO TARO returns for the new project as well as composer Keiichi Okabe, whose award-winning score to the original became one of the greatest accomplishments in gaming music.

New to the series is character designer Akihiko Yoshida from CyDesignation, Inc., well known for his work in BRAVELY DEFAULT and the FINAL FANTASY series, as well as game designer Takahisa Taura, with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to his credit.

It's alright, nothing will happen for 3 years then there will be a little trailer which announces that it's "in development"

Is this a meme or something? Platinum are pretty reliable and prompt when it comes to delivering their wares. Look at Revengeance, Komani turned to Platinum to salvage Rising, which had been in 'development hell', and Platinum turned that out pretty speedily.

Seems like an odd choice for a sequel, didn't Nier do pretty shitty sales wise first time around?

I'm playing through Nier at the moment. It's definitely flawed, but it's a decent game. Interested to see what they do with this.

My issues with the original, are all things I think Platinum are suited to improve upon (technical / gameplay). Which is probably why I'm so excited for this.

If you don't play through to Ending B you'll miss almost all of the important parts of the game.

I see...can you expand on that? How do I know if I'm playing through to Ending B? Are you saying there are parts of the game that you don't get to play if you pick one of the other endings?

It's a New game+ system, if you don't do them you'll miss out on all the good stuff

There's no endings to "pick" - you just play through linearly. First is Ending A, then you restart halfway through the game and can continue to Ending B. That should be the minimum, but there's also Endings C and D if you want to keep going.

You might expect to reach Ending A after 14-16 hours, and Ending B at around 20 hours, so it's not a doubling of the game time. But it's almost a doubling of the game quality! :D

Yeah 'pick' was the wrong word, I assumed if there were multiple endings then the one I 'got' would be based on my actions throughout the game or some kind of decision I'd have to make. Thanks for the heads-up...sounds kind of annoying though if I have to re-play what I've already done..?

Anyway, I don't want to railroad this topic into a discussion about me playing through the original. :slol: Based on my experience so far, here's what I'd like to see improved in this new version:

> Fewer dull/pointless quests
> An easier way to travel around quickly
> A much more refined menu system
> Better character models
> A deeper upgrade system/customisation options

Gameplay from the conference at around 3:25.

This has my new favourite action game written all over it.

The soundtrack is giving me major Ghost In The Shell vibes. Paris Games Week has been saved from mediocrity.

Am I missing something? I think this looks decidedly underwhelming :shifty:

Based on that reveal video it just appears to be bog standard hack n slash type stuff with seemingly rather uninspired enemy design. The environment graphics do look quite tasty though.

Read this. It'll change your mind.

Nier's sequel will have all the weirdness of the original, plus a little more polish
