Well this isn't getting finished tonight, and maybe not tomorrow night, either, because the side missions just keep on coming!

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, or if you want to read the following article because it has some spoilers, but if it is it seems like you'll want to continue playing.

Think you need to complete it a few times in order to get the whole story

Learned this last night! Finished 2nd playthrough and I expected 3rd (and then 4th) would cover the same events but from a different perspective. That isn't what happened. But...

While it looks like the story will move on, the gameplay will mostly remain the same and so my worry about it getting repetitive still stands.

I'll definitely be coming back to it though, and sooner than planned now that I know the story moves on after 2nd playthrough. (May return to it before H:ZD.)

I only used hack a few times, usually on the melee/bullet sponge enemies (the gold enemies are rare fights and they don't respawn). You don't have to use it if you don't want to.

Map features are very basic indeed, but being able to place a manual marker does make finding the missions you're interested in doing a little easier.

Just finished the demo and now I want to get the game. Liked the way the camera moved around different sections so seamlessly.

Most Japanese game I've ever played as well.

Guess what I'm gonna be making a start on again today :slol: I'm enjoying Horizon ZD, but knowing I won't have time to finish it before Persona 5 hits just isn't sitting right with me, and so I've decided it makes more sense to see NierA through to completion. (Which I *will* be able to do before P5 hits.) Hopefully the gameplay won't feel repetitive but, if it does, I'm sure the story, new side missions, enemies, etc will make up for it.

3rd playthrough spoiler: I am NOT liking this stormtrooper get-up. :dread: I understand why it's being used, but it still feels sketchy as strawberry float to be running around in it.

Holy gooseberry fool :slol: Will just leave it at that. Happened a short while after chapter 3 kicked off, it wasn't anything major but it had us laughing a in kind of disbelieving/lol wut way.

Also, I expected the story to go one way but, thank strawberry float, it seems not to be going down that route. I'd have hated it if it had.

There's a section in chapter 3 which is arguably the worst bit of gameplay in the whole game.

Done. Mostly. Still not seen the "true" ending but that really can wait :slol: I'm glad I went back to this earlier than planned.
Chapter 3 definitely had the biggest *ugh* moment, *loved* just about everything else. If NierA isn't in my top games of the year then we'll have had an amazing year of games!

Pascal

I've never wished so much for a game to be linear like i do when playing this. Honestly, if this was more akin to Ninja Gaiden/Bayonetta/DMC et al, I would be loving the strawberry float out of it. I thought the first hour was stunning. The awesome combat, the way it switched gameplay styles so seamlessly, the very interesting story, the massive boss. It was almost a perfect opening hour.

Then the game proper starts and it's find me 5 of this, get me 3 of that, fetch me all this gooseberry fool while I'm gonna sit here and do nothing. The worst kind of open world shite. My heart had never sunk so fast. The world is so dull and drab, too. Maybe it's my open-world fatigue, maybe it's because I'm playing it off the back of Zelda but I'm just not feeling this at all. I guess i should research my purchases more  I honestly didn't know it was an open-world game.

Ways to get around drab world that much quicker: play main missions until fast travel (between unlocked save point locations) is unlocked; put nothing but speed plug-in chips in one of your chip storages (so storage should be System Chips + Moving Speed Up chips); buy the item that kind of looks like a pouch (bought from Resistance Camp, I think it's called Satchel), it'll allow you to ride a moose or a boar without need of setting bait down. (You'll just have to stand beside the creature for a moment or two before the button prompt appears.)

I agree with brer here, the open world is utterly pointless. I've enjoyed precisely one of the sidequests (the Lost Sister one) and the rest have been needless fetch quests with very little payoff. Didn't help that I did quite a few before Fast Travel turned up. I'm going to concentrate on the main story and see where we go, but so far it's nowhere near the 'masterpiece' that it's been touted as.

Saying that, there's nothing I've disliked. The combat is strawberry floating brill, the story is super interesting and the upgrade system is great.
