Some early reviews on youtube seem very positive about this game. I'm nearly ready to pre order

PLAY | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [92h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S2, HiJack S1, The Apprentice S18
RACE | Westonbirt Half (March), Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

I imagine we'll see some slightly more mixed reviews in the next few hours. The 94 it currently sits at on Metacritic seems too good to be true, especially for a game that will likely confuse and obfuscate so many. It'll make zero impact on my purchase decision though.

94 right now on Meta

What a year for single player games. Will go down in the record books and we have Mario and Red Dead to come.

Destiny 2 too (probably)!

Favourite tunes so far...

Expected this to be mostly hacky-slashy, which it is, but didn't expect the plethora of side missions, so any of hopes of finishing this quickly have gone out the window. So! Plan is now to play as much as possible before Persona 5 hits, then come back to complete this, and then move on to Horizon: Zero Dawn.

No, but it's *kind of* related to that. Y'know at the funfair they have those very short machines wearing jester hats and holding balloons? Well, you escort a load of those on a parade whilst they're being attacked by a variety of other machines.

Saw my friend play some of the opening of this, and changing the vibration settings is amazing. Reminds me a lot of Kojima

RockPaperShotgun loved it

Automata, at its best, fuses Platinum’s mastery of stylish action to a framework that works as both a tour and deconstruction of various genres, and a story both stranger and more interesting than it first appears. It’s awesome.

Call it a "masterpiece" so obvs this has just shot up my list of wants.

Holy gooseberry fool :slol: Nearly strawberry floated up in a major way!

Got killed doing Twisted Religion. 2B spawned at save point and I continued to play for 90 minutes +, killing a variety of mobs including mini bosses, a boss, and a gauntlet of mini bosses! And only then did I realise, as I was escaping the gooseberry fool hole, just what it was that felt amiss and why: I had failed to go back to loot my body! *That* was why my HP wasn't regenerating after killing mobs. Yup. I'd played over 90 minutes of NierA without any gameplay effecting chips and had been in constant danger of losing the lot for good the whole time! :fp:
