First time through for the most part it's pretty fun game. Honestly, the story did nothing for me and the overworld is probably one of the worst out there but is engaging enough. Started a second play through but needed a break from it. If you can pick it up cheap I'd say it's worth a shot.

Certainly one of the better Japanese stories.

What do you mean by this? I thought the demo was decent, and am looking forward to getting the main game where it presumably ramps up the challenge and becomes more interesting.

The fighting is fun, but over the course of 35 hours it never really changes. If you've played the demo, you've experienced the majority of what the moment to moment game feels like. It's a classic because of its atmosphere and plotting, not it's fighting

Hmm. That's not what I wanted to hear. I'm not convinced that the plot of a Japanese ARPG with lots of boobs and bums could possibly keep me interested in the slightest.

Nope. 100% wrong. I took a huge leap on this game as I hate the genre of exploitative J-Action-RPGs. This is not the game you think it is. I said it's a classic because of it's story and atmosphere, and I meant that. It's a classic.

The worst part is that if you want to experience the best part of the story you have to finish the game a second time, but using an infinitely less fun character. I don't know, I've read the spoilers for what happens and yeah it's interesting but I'm not playing what is in all honesty a pretty average game 4 times to experience all its story beats

You wouldn't have had to. (General spoilers, nothing revealed in any great detail.)
I expected 3rd playthrough to be similar to 2nd and 1st but from a different perspective. Thankfully, I was only half right. And the 4th playthrough lets you jump right to the good stuff meaning, if you want it to, it lasts a fraction of the time of the others. So yeah, at most you're replaying the game once, with the 3rd playthough being mostly fresh ('mostly' because it still takes place in same areas), and the 4th allowing you to skip to the most important scene which then leads to not yet played gameplay.

I actually stopped playing after my 2nd playthough as I went into it second guessing what the 3rd and 4th would be like. Luckily I quickly got back into it to learn just how way, way off the mark I was with my presumptions. That goes for gameplay and story.

Finished ending A. Fook me that last section is brutal if you are underleveled. Wasn't about to reload or go to easy so that was an hour of getting lucky. I'll start the next campaign tomorrow. Enjoying it so far and I know it's meant to get crazy from here on in.

Done the final big ending. This game was absolutely bonkers and could not have been done through any other media. I personally had some issues with the pacing but some of those moments are incredible.

I of course got the silly platinum trophy.

So is this game just completely out of print or something? Out of stock everywhere I've looked.

It's in stock on Amazon and SquareEnix EU store.

CEX have it for £30 (PS4) and £40 (PC), but I think PC version isn't fully fixed yet.

It’s a marketplace seller from Germany that has it in stock on Amazon, dunno why it’s advertised as prime delivery when it only offers expedited delivery with no date. Not paying £50 for it from the SquareEnix store :dread: eBay copies were pricey too.

Completely forgot about CEX.

Even the PC version can't be had for less than £40 at the moment it seems.

I only ordered online with 'em once and the thing took ages to dispatch and arrive. So you may want to pick it up in person at your local store if you're wanting to play it asap.

And as soon as I post that, cdkeys e-mail me that they've got it back in stock for £29.99.
It's been cheaper before, but I think I'll snap it up at that price since the game seems to be getting tough to find in any format below RRP.

I completed the first playthrough last night. The section from the factory onwards was pretty tedious, can definitely see people getting strawberry floated over at that bit if they aren't prepared.

Just done the desert bit on my second playthrough and I think I'm going to knock the difficulty down to easy so I can just get it done quicker for the story. The gameplay is good but the overworld is a bit dull and the combat quite basic for what it is.

Took way too long to unlock the fast travel mechanics, but then again I was pissing about with side quests completely unaware that there would be a fast travel mechanic later on.
So spent 7-8 hours thinking "This would be way better with fast travel" :slol:
