I've had a strange tendency to play Phoenix Wright games in big, spaced out chunks so I ended up completing DUal Destines over a year after it launched. I think that I only completed the first case and about half of the second on around launch while the rest waited for me until the beginning of this year. I think that I even completed Ace Attorney: Investigations in the meantime!

Me too! I'm still on that Temura Temparo whatsit case! :fp:

Bought mine for Animal Crossing New Leaf in summer 2013. Was never a huge fan of handheld gaming but Animal Crossing is one of my favourite series. Put over 100 hours into it since then and still visit my town on most days. Not really played many of the "big" games apart from Pokemon X, which was the first Pokemon game I've played properly and I completed it after around 30 hours. Not really interested in the post-game stuff though.

Most of my enjoyment has come from the eShop - loads of original, exciting games covering a range of genres. The Sega 3D Classics line has also been one of the console's success stories.

My most-played games

1. Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 111h
2. Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright - 38h
3. Nintendo Pocket Football Club - 38h
4. Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies - 35h
5. Ocarina of Time 3D - 35h (and counting :slol: )
6. Pokemon X - 32h
7. Mighty Switch Force! - 11h
8. Fire Emblem Awakening - 9h (never really been able to get into this, will try again though)
9. Crimson Shroud - 8h
10. 3D Streets of Rage - 7h

3D has gone from a gimmick to something I miss when it's not available. Really adds something to a game when it's done well.

Easily possible if you download lots of stuff. Especially if you had a 3DS before background downloading was a thing.

I left the browser (115h), eShop (34h) and Miiverse (12h) off my list. I used the browser a lot before I got a smartphone and I like browsing the other two.

Also have 18 hours on the Mii plaza which I should probably have included. I only play Puzzle Swap and Streetpass Squad now.

Ah, non-background downloading. I forgot that was a thing on 3DS.

Downloading is a good thought but I anticipate that is only a small proportion of the time. It's mainly looking around the Shop :fp:.

Then again, that's over a period of nearly four years. At 200 weeks, it works out to around 12 minutes a week. Not too much... I feel better, now :-).

* I've only got one one mission and one or two side quests left. I should go back.
** I'm literally on the last boss :fp:
*** This was a huge sleeper hit. It's amazing how much I keep going back to it! I've hit a brick wall against Mega Mewtwo so I've been trying to get S ranks on all the other levels and catch all the Pokémon. I haven't played it in a few days though.

jawafour wrote:That's good to hear, Ironhide. I don't know very much about accessibility options for gamers, but I recall reading of adapted controllers that assist people. I believe the PS1 had a single-handed controller quite fairly widely available, although it stil required dexterity in one hand to be usable.

Are you able to play touch-screen games on Android / iPad? If so, it may be that some DS games would enable you to derive some enjoyment? Thinking off the top of my head, games like Professor Layton, Animal Crossing, Hotel Dusk and Electroplankton may be suitable?

I use an emulator to play DS/PSP games (turn based RPGs mainly) but obviously there's some games that are difficult to emulate properly and some which simply don't work.

As for accessibility, it's often little things like remapable controls, windowed display modes and allowing the mouse cursor to leave the game window that enable me to play games, it really annoys me when games like Broken Sword 5, which by all rights I should be able to play are rendered unplayable by something stupid like not having the option to increase mouse sensitivity (seriously, you have to move the mouse in huge sweeping motions just to move the cursor a few milimetres)
