It is a lot of fun if you dig Mii's and Tomodachi Life-type humour. I hesitate to actually recommend it because I know that many folk would probably think "WTF is this?!?"... but - based on my demo play and my first couple of goes with the full game - I think it's super brill!

It's New 2DS day! I can't wait to finally play SNES games on the move.

I'm keen to hear your verdict on the kit, Andy! I believe that Super Dragon 64 is getting one today, too. I don't plan to change mine (I have a New 3DS) but it'd be cool to hear your views.

Has anyone picked up Pikmin? I want to, but haven't yet been convinced by it.

I went for Miitopia instead, Celer. Reviews of Pikmin suggest that, whilst a reasonably fun game to play through, it's not got that something to make it essential. I get the impression that it's a Pikmin game for younger folk who haven't previously played a Pikmin game.

So, yeah, I should get it etc.

Several of the SNES games are on sale right now by the way if you link your NNID to your My Nintendo account to get the "Just for You" offers.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I got my brand spanking new New 2DS today, and I love it :-)

It looks beautiful (I got the black and blue version), and feels incredibly light compared to my old 3DS XL. The screen is vibrant, and it's exactly what I want from a handheld.

I only have one criticism - it's very difficult to put the stylus back into the system - you have to line it up exactly and at the right angle to get it in.

I haven't tested any 3DS games, and will be interested to compare load speeds etc. tomorrow.

The only game I have downloaded and played so far is Super Mario World - it looks crystal clear, has instant input and is probably the best VC rendition I've played.

I simply cannot wait to download and play more SNES classics - I travel quite a bit, and SNES games on the go is a dream for me!

That's great, man - it seems to be a cool device and, as you're into SNES games, it should be terrific for your travels.

Here are my first impressions of the New 2DS XL as I set up the system transfer:

+The lighter weight and matte finish make it more comfortable to hold than the New 3DS XL
+The curved shoulder buttons are easier to press than the rectangular ones on the 3DS
~ The stylus is shorter than the one with the New 3DS XL but thicker and better than the New 3DS one
-No 3D :(

I didn't change the default screen settings so I'll have to compare them properly later but it held up well against my New 3DS XL which was on the highest brightness setting.

I'm looking forward to polishing off my 3DS library and new games, like Devilish Brain Training and Samus Returns, on my new New 2DS XL :toot:

That sounds cool, Dragon. It's always great to get a new console, unpack it and try it out for the first time!

I *like* the New 3DS one :x ( ). Seriously, though, none of them top the original version. Metal and telescopic  .

I think the New 2DS XL might be my favourite handheld ever.

It's just so cool, fun, feels great to hold, and totally retro. I just downloaded my second VC game - Legend of the Mystical Ninja :-)

Been thinking of getting one of these but had been put off by some reviews saying the screen quality wasnt up to much. Impressions in this thread have allayed those concerns so just ordered one for delivery today. My first Nintendo console since a brief early spell with the Wii

I also read reviews which criticised the screen quality, and to be perfectly honest, I don't understand what they're on about! It's bright, vibrant, and crystal clear...The SNES games in particular look beautiful. Some reviewers have criticised it after comparing it to the Switch's screen, which is utterly ridiculous.

As for SNES games on sale, I've looked through them all and don't see any...the cheapest seem to be £7.19 - is this what they usually are?

They are definitely on sale, they are half price so £3.59 (except Earthbound which is £4.49), it is limited (Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, A Link to the Past, F-Zero and Earthbound) but they are all on sale now.

Andy, you need to have a Nintendo Account (My Nintendo) setup and linked to your NNID in order to get the discounted prices on the eShop.
