AT LAST!!!!

I finally got my Nintendo Network ID to synch with my New 2DS to synch with my "My Nintendo" account.

God knows how I did it, but it's working...I just messed around with the settings on the 2DS, and Bingo, it worked! :toot:

Just downloading all the SNES games in the sale - Earthbound, Mario Kart, F-Zero, Zelda 3 :-) I had already bought Mario World at full price. :x

Does that matter as it's a 2DS and doesn't have 3D?

Well the DS was a completely different system and the 3DS (and 2DS) plays those games too, so yeah.

EDIT - The 2DS plays all 3DS games as far as I'm aware.

That's a relief. Might see if I can get a second hand copy of GTA China Town Wars, as I ploughed hours in to that years ago before I sold my old DS.

Also, just seen your post in the DSiware thread about Mr Driller. strawberry float yeah. :toot:

This is pretty tempting, too.

The SNES emulation on the New 2DS (and I presume also therefore on the New 3DS) is by far the best Nintendo has done...I've bought loads of SNES games on Wii and Wii U, and they play far better on New 2DS. There is zero input lag, the colours pop out of the screen, and the screen format is just as the SNES was.

Having played these games on the original SNES (which I still have), this is pretty much spot on.

I simply love the New 2DS :-)

The only problem I have is the digital buttons are kind of exhausting to fire repeatedly in Metroid original. That game is hard.

Really? I'm playing it at the moment and they seem fine.
I'm using a walkthrough this time as it's just too difficult without a map

I think it's just NES metroid on my 3DS XL. The enemies are more bullet sponges than the more recent games and to fire at a rapid rate while jumping around - which seems to be designed around the momentary press buttons on the original NES pad. That was pretty common in those days - rapid fire was for noob and really it was about pressing the button faster to win. My poor thumbs

(actually it might be because I have guitar nails so after a while they start to dig in. I'm talking playing for 2 hours or so though)

They're certainly bullet sponges!

I really couldn't go back to the NES Metroid after playing Zero Mission.

I'm wrestling with selling my New 3DS (small size) and getting the 2DS XL. I do wonder if I would miss the 3D though, even though I rarely play for long periods with it on. Maybe the trade off would be worth it for bigger screens and some a more comfortable form factor.

I'd miss those SNES buttons too though :fp:

For what it's worth, I think some games strawberry float it up a bit when they merge their layers and look blurry.

With Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate the 3D is announcing because with it on the game is a lot sharper and it looks really good, but you can tell straight away it affects the frame, especially in big monster battles with four players.

3D was a really cool feature and some games look incredible with it on but overall I don't really think it was worth sacrificing some of the systems power for.

I also notice that with monster hunter 3. The text is barely legible in 2D.

The New 3DS is my personal favourite machine of the 3DS family. The size and feel is, for me, just right. I've never got on with the XL models although I know most folk prefer them.

Jawa knows what's up.

Bigger screen isn't better if it's the same resolution. Nintendo know the N3DS is the best iteration too - that's why it has the SNES buttons and faceplates and has been discontinued

The Samus Edition New 3DS XL is releasing in Europe, too.

Edit: I noticed that Nintendo still isn't including a power adapter with the 3DS XL, even though they do with the cheaper 2DS XL. Because reasons.
