Might keep an eye on ebay and see if something comes up cheap.

You can have that 2DS for free. I've never opened it and I only have it because I forgot to cancel a pre-order :P

Please order lots of Switches just to make sure you get one at launch.

That's five Switch pre-orders. I'm pretty sure that I have more than five 3DS family systems though :shifty:

Holy gooseberry fool. Are you going to cancel 4 close to the time once one gets 'launch day confirmed', or sell the spare 4 on, or just, like, have 5 Switches...?

The plan is to cancel four of them before it comes out just in case some of them get delayed due to stock issues. One is with GAME which I plan to cancel the week before as GAME tends to take money a bit before dispatch. Two are with Amazon who won't send them until Thursday at the earliest so it shouldn't be hard to cancel them after I get a dispatch notice from the Nintendo Store where I have another two pre-ordered. I'll cancel the non-neon coloured one that I have there at the beginning of launch week :toot:

Of course, when I inevitably forget to cancel one, I'll have a spare for someone :shifty:

AXL wrote:Can someone tell me which essential AAA games I'm missing from my 3DS collection?

I want to finish off the essentials throughout this year, before even thinking about Switch.

Here's what I have:

Super Mario 3D Land
New Super Mario Bros 2
Mario Kart 8
Mario Golf World Tour
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Pilot wings Resort
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Zelda: Majora's Mask
Zelda: Link between Worlds
Kid Icarus
Super Street Fighter IV
Luigi's Mansion
Starfox 64 3D

I'm only really after the "absolutely cannot miss" AAA games :-)

Thanks. :toot:

Saw there 's a Zelda sale on the eShop. How does A Link to the Past play? Any emulation problems or anything? Tempted to buy it for a fourth ( :fp: ) time and not finish it.

Do snes games work at all on the older 3ds or was it just a scam to get people to upgrade?

The CPU on the old 3DS wasn't good enough to run the games.

Using BootNTR, we can adjust the new 3ds clock speed to pretend its an old 3ds

The result is most SNES games become an unplayable mess, like mario world

This is why SNES games are new 3ds exclusive

So the 3DS isn't as powerful as the original psp?

It plays very well on the New 3DS as I only noticed a couple of instances of slowdown during the whole game. I never played the SNES original so I don't know if that was present there but I finished it for the first time ever on the New 3DS :toot:

There's a difference between software and hardware emulation.

Nintendo I believe use Hardware emulation.

Fair enough. I'm not going to pretend I understand.

There's no hardware emulation involved in any of this.

The CPU in the 3DS is more advanced than the one in the PSP of course, the 3DS also has a lot more memory...however when it comes to this kind of emulation the more advanced CPU in the 3DS probably doesn't provide much of a benefit.

Probably the difference comes down to either the PSP having slightly more raw horsepower despite being an older less advanced processor, or it could just be that the emulation available on PSP is basically making better use of the power the PSP has. With the 3DS emulation being official certain things have to take resources away from the emulator running the game, presumably not a factor in homebrew PSP emulators.

I had a snes emulator running on my old DS Lite which ran at a far better speed than that 3ds video. There were a few glitchy graphics but nothing you couldn't ignore (and may have been ironed out with the emulator since).

I literally just fired it up now and it runs Super Mario World at the right speed.

The DS Lite has way less power than a vanilla 3DS. Something doesn't smell quite right about the need for a New 3DS

This Rhythm Paradise keeps throwing more levels at you. Great stuff.

Could not pass that stop the karate chop game for the life in me. I failed it so much that the game just let me passed it.
