I use a wired 360 controller myself. I love Project 64.

The choice of kings.

1964 is also good. Runs faster than Project 64 and some games work better in it (Excitebike and Beetle Adventure Racing spring to mind).

P64 is generally better, but for certain titles I think 1964 is preferable. I mix and match depending on the game.

Anyone have a Goldeneye ROM which works properly, all of mine are weird on certain levels like the Ship one where the colours are distorted, and the sky is black iirc. :?

Playing these through Project 64 you really start to see why people used to complain at how crap PAL systems were - the games are obviously optimised for that NTSC 60Hz speed. Some of them feel like different games - and the N64 seems much more powerful somehow.

You do realise that the games are emulated to run in 60fps, the originals were nowhere near that!

I owned the NTSC US Version of Super Mario 64 and there is a difference, Mario definately runs quicker, but its not game breaking tbh.

No I didn't realize that! There is a difference (for me) if you use a Euro ROM versus a US/JP one tho.

Anyway, running them at high resolution and with such a great framerate has made me a very happy fruit.

My vote went for Super Mario 64 - not an original choice, true, but it was one of the most monumental games I've ever played - to the point of after I already knew it well enough, I caught all 120 stars in one single day without any assistance other than my own memory.

Usually when I refer to the N64, I always say I have a "holy trinity" of games - Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Ocarina of Time. Immediately beneath these, are GoldenEye, Lylat Wars and Majora's Mask. Other top choice games of mine for this machine are F-Zero X, Wave Race 64 and Blast Corps.

It is strange how this console pretty much lived on for 5 years, existing in a parallel reality compared with the PS1 - 3rd party support was extremely low and it relied on exclusive games to impose its weight. It might not have been the commercial smash Nintendo wanted it to be [and this became evident after Squaresoft turned Final Fantasy 64 into Final Fantasy VII] but it left one hell of a legacy.

Agree although I do not think BK deserves to be in the Holy Trinity. Either Goldeneye or Majoras Mask should be in there imo.

Perfect Dark is the only Rare game that deserves to be in the Holy Trinity.

Incorrect. PD improved on Goldeneye in almost every conceivable way.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Thats like saying GT2 improved on GT1, but for its day GT1 was better much like Goldeneye being better.

Always hated the blur you got when playing N64 games on a TV with the supplied cable.

Looks amazing in 1080p, especially Mario 64 :)
