Hmm, my laptop's widescreen, so the resolution options are widescreen too.

Not many N64 games I can get into. Mario 64's really immersive, F-Zero, Mario Kart and Diddy Kong are still great. The rest haven't really aged well compared to PS/Saturn, and there's not much choice (stupid cartridge decision)

I've said it once, and I'll say it again - there ain't no party like a Mario Party. The three N64 games were amazing, the first two especially.

The first one is the best game of it's genre ever made, absolutely amazing on MP.

Is the actual game in widescreen though, on mine it just stretches it.

Stretches here too, the games were made for 4:3 screens, so no way around that.

Yeah. Majora's Mask looks so beautiful in HD, I am half way through the VC version though and need to complete it finally!

There's been some hubbub about Rare recently, which kind of made me want to go back and look at the N64 Rare titles. I missed much of their output--consequence of being too young to play a lot of it, at the time--but what I did play, I adored. If I had played DK64 back then, I'm reasonably confident I would have enjoyed it much more than I did. Perhaps I could say the same for Mickey's Speedway, though I loathed Disney games back then--and I'm oddly pleased I had that mindset.

Perfect Dark - Never played. At all. Would like to, mind. ?/10
GoldenEye 007 - Played very, very little. Next to nothing. Not much of a shooting-game fan, though, so I'm not sure about getting this. ?/10
Diddy Kong Racing - Absolutely adored this. Colourful; jaunty; rich with character and enthusiasm. Dave Wise's soundtrack was magnificent. 9/10
Banjo-Kazooie - So few games that I have played have been anywhere near as rich and vivacious as this. An absolute dream. 9/10
Donkey Kong 64 - I'm up to the final level, but I think the design of this game is fundamentally flawed. Felt like a step-down from B.K. 6/10
Banjo-Tooie - Enjoyed it to a fair extent, way back when. Its enormity and difficulty made me turn to cheats to see it through, mind. 7/10
Killer Instinct Gold - Never played, but the soundtrack was pretty funky. ?/10
Jet Force Gemini - Never, ever played. But I do intend to, someday. ?/10
Mickey's Speedway USA - Fundamentally solid, but completely and utterly soulless. Some beautiful character models. 6/10
Conker's Bad Fur Day - Only played somewhat, but it's bursting with movement and character. Thankfully, quite linear and focused, too. 8/10
Blast Corps - My secret shame! Never played! ?/10

Oh man. You have to play blast corps. One of the best games on the system IMO. Oozes fun from start to finish.

Go and buy it. Now.

Not sure if anyone's interested--though I'm personally enthralled--but the prototype cartridge of Glover 2, sequel to the inventive platformer Glover, has recently surfaced on NESWorld, where the editor has taken a few screenshots and videos. And I have to say, there are a few resemblances to Banjo-Kazooie: the game looks markedly more vibrant than its forbear, and it visibly looks tighter in its controls.

I loved the platforming/free-roaming adventure-game hybrid that preponderated on the N64, and Glover 2 certainly matches the tendency towards that genre. As mentioned before, it seems to have taken a few notes from Banjo-Kazooie--the amount of dialogue and nature of its delivery marks a disparity with the first game--so I'm not sure if that would have undermined the title in the eyes of the critical press, given that the original scored points chiefly for its uniqueness.

Here's the link in case anyone's interested. It takes me one step closer to my crazy dreams of a Super Mario 64 2 prototype emerging, or Dinosaur Planet...or, er, the illusory Timber 64.

Mario Party 2 is better than the first one.

Plus it doesn't have any of those mini-games that involve breaking the analogue sticks or blistering your hands.

Never played MP3.

I still preferred the first one. Wearing a glove > all.

I played some Conker today. Enjoyed it even though it felt like I was battling the fidgety controls and awful camera the whole time
