I guess we will have a 3DS focused Direct sometime in July/August maybe? They need to showcase the new Pokemon somewhere.

How much of Zelda can they possibly show for the whole of E3? They will either spoil most of the game or it will just be the same hour or 2 of gameplay on a continuous loop

They may as well just play the entire game live and stream it.

So the best we can hope for is announcements of announcements.

Best E3 conference ever!

At this point I'm not sure why they're even bothering to show up.

Will it really matter if they just do their own thing later in the year? E3 used to be important as all the media would be there, so you show your stuff to them and they report it to the customers. These days everyone gets the info first hand from streams. If we're all just watching a stream by Nintendo, it doesn't matter if it's E3 week or later.

This way they can avoid fighting for attention and have an hour long NX stream in September and they know all the gaming media will be talking about them that week. Perfect way to kick off the 6 month count down to the launch that E3 usually does for holiday launches.

I'd love it if they full-on cel-shaded it again.

Maybe a hyper realistic Zelda where he goes adventuring and gets progressively more and more aches and pains from all the running about and fighting.

Oh no our hero has back problems, -75% movement speed and every 30 seconds he needs to stop and stretch and moan about how he's "Too old for this gooseberry fool!".

Genuinely disheartened at this. I was hoping they'd use Treehouse to show what else is coming besides Zelda. Just because the Wii U is all but dead and it's too early to show NX doesn't mean they have to neglect the 3DS. I was looking forward to seeing both Dragon Quest games at Treehouse. Unless I'm misinterpreting this and there is a chance Treehouse is showing more (it was more than one day last year, right?) and that just one day of Treehouse will be dedicated to Zelda. Zelda really must be something special for them to go into one of the more mainstream media attracted events with simply Zelda.

I mean I am super excited for Zelda so having a whole day of coverage is no bad thing itself

In fact this gives me a ton of hope that it's going to be a gigantic open world full of quests and content - how else could they have a day's worth of content without spoiling the entire game?

This is pretty much my thinking. I was hoping that there would at least be a Direct with footage of Paper Mario, the new Pokémon games and some unannounced titles but it seems that it will just be Zelda at E3. This doesn't meant that we can't have a pre-E3 Direct like last year but it's a shame to see that the World Championship won't return. That was fantastic last year and one of the best bits of E3.

As much as I want to see more footage, really don't want to watch too much on, you know, the count I want to buy it and play it.

Good lord Nintendo, last E3 before your new platform releases and all you have is zelda, what are you doing.

Edit: no World Championship either? Fuuuuuuuuuuu
