Oooohhh interesting....

Must be a big game announcement coming (hopefully Zelda or Mario not Wii Fit Plus, but that be the most probable)

I'm going to play it middle of the road and say it's E3 for the Japanese Press, as most of them don't want to come this year due to the government's Swine Flu warnings so would miss out on playing the games demonstrated.

Japanese E3 sounds to me like hardware reveal. DS2?

Not so soon after the release of the DSi. They'll want to milk that as much as possible first.

Given that the DSi doesn't have a GBA slot, could it be a new Game Boy, with backwards compatibility with the GBA and GBC? Go back to the original plan of three pillars.

The GBA Micro says otherwise.

Nintendo UK have announced they are also holding an after E3 conference, similar to the one Nintendo Japan has announced.

Nintendo being over-cautious due to swine-flu, or should hypemeters be set to MEGATONS?

This better not be a repeat of last year, Alvin.

It will be, but what's E3 without massive hype and massive letdowns?

Nah, I think the regional conferences will be all about showing what that region's getting this year, while E3's event will be about everything Nintendo's showing for the year no matter the region and, with a bit of luck, a little teensy weensy something for the fanbase to get excited about too. I don't think there'll be any big announcements at the regional events but if they show off anything nifty and new in America like maybe a Wiimote with in-built Motion+, the regional events might be partly held to announce release dates for them.

Some sad news, and I can't find the Fatal Frame IV thread to bump it at the moment:

Nintendo Official Magazine (Not sure if it's ours, or another European one) have got an official comment from Nintendo about Fatal Frame IV, and it truly was a mess up and won't be coming.
"One time envisaged for a May release, the localization of the game has been cancelled and the game will stay as an Japanese exclusive game".

IGN have also reported that Nintendo wanted the controls tweaked and the bugs all fixed but Tecmo refused to play ball and so Nintendo refused to release a game they considered buggy and broken.

Hopefully this opens it up for another company to take care of it.

Someone on GAF chimes in with a comment:
Near as I can tell, this was a result of Nintendo being unsatisfied with the way the game released in Japan (broken) and asking Tecmo to fix it for release in other regions. Release in America and Europe was planned, contingent on the game being fixed, but that never materialized.

Why? From what I have been told, Tecmo wasn't keen on doing it. They thought the game shipped fine, at least as far as controls were concerned, and they were preparing a large workload and a merger at the time. If Nintendo had paid them extra for what they considered extra work, they would have been fine with it. Instead, it all came from the initial budget Nintendo had for development. In other words, no one was going to give Tecmo extra money for work on the localizations, so they weren't going to do it.

I guess it comes down to whether or not Nintendo was okay with shipping the game as it was, which apparently they weren't. This is one of the situations where NCL did have a direct influence over the other companies with regard to localization. They basically said it wasn't going to be released in other countries in the state it was in and considered the Japanese release kind of an embarrassment.

Tecmo, for their part, seems kind of bitter about the whole thing. Just guesswork, but I think they feel they've been snubbed by promises of a better working relationship and lots of money from a very rich Nintendo. When Tecmo said it was in Nintendo's hands whether the game was coming here, they meant that if Nintendo insists on not giving them extra money or still being concerned about the state of the game, then nothing will happen.

Fair play to Nintendo, there, I reckon. Basically saying "strawberry float off with your shoddily constructed game". They should do it more often.

I think this could well be the end of the world.

Now Nintendo have a Wii in every household across the globe, after E3, each division of Nintendo will go live on air in each country and hold the world to ransom.

Expect to see this until you pay up...

Listen Up raised a good point just now (im listening to it) I totally forgot about F-Zero as a possibility :fp:

Also I have speculation round up type thing on my blog but I'm not going to directly link to it because the pimping I'll be doing tomorrow is shameful enough as it is

If you see the Wii as basically analogous to the DS, one can only wonder at how ideas explored in DS titles like Spirit Tracks or Phantom Hourglass might be "maxed out", as it were, in the next home console Zelda.

I'm skeptical we'll see F-Zero, partly because I'm not sure how much of a market there is for it anymore and I've also got to wonder who's been making it if it does exist :?

I'm going into work an hour early tomorrow so I don't get funny looks when I shonk off at 4 (or hopefully 3:30 if I can wangle it that way).

Dash home full of anticipation posting on my iPhone on the train and then it's go time baby :o
I'm getting excited already 8-)

I don't know how well F-Zero GX sold, but I imagine it had a better first month than ExciteBots.

Maybe there's life in the old girl yet.

I just wouldn't expect anything as lavish as GX if Nintendo did decide to bring it back.

Which begs the question what's the point?

More likely that GX will get Wii-made in the next round of updates, along with Wind Waker.

Will it get Wiimade though? I can't remember who said it, it might've been Reggie or Miyamoto, but one of the Nintendo bigwigs did say some time ago that Wiimaking it could be quite tricky due to the speeds the game sees you going at, and motion controls might be tough to implement in such a frantic, high speed environment.

If they've overcome those concerns, well, huzzah.
