They already did this years ago if I recall rightly. You could get one with I think 6 games built in about 10 years ago (mostly Sonic games I think).

There's also this from a few years back:

Thanks, Jenuall, but what I like about the NES Classic Mini is that it looks exactly like the original machine; I'd love to see mini MS, MD and N64 in the same style!

EDIT: MS v1 and MD v1 styles, obvs!

Fair point, it definitely is a nice looking thing. The NES and EU/JPN SNES were great designs so will look lovely in this form, however not sure the old Master System would fare as well when reduced. The MD would still look lovely though...

I hope an MS one could look as cool as this key ring model:

And this key ring version would be a great basis for the MD model (spoilored for massive):

There could be separate Mega CD and 32X add-ons :toot: .

Yeah a large part of the appeal of this is the aesthetics. Just the idea of having a miniature NES on a shelf makes me feel happy.

Totally, OR. When folk talk about emulation and Raspberry PIs I'm all " :| ", but get down to mini models and things change to " :toot: ".

Ok, how about get a broken NES on ebay for about £20, gut it and put the Pi inside?

Because that's not a novelty miniature that comes in a shiny box with the official Nintendo seal of approval.

I'm sure this sentence will be taken as both a perfectly good reason by those who like that sort of thing and also an incredibly silly sounding concept that highlights how ridiculous the whole thing is by those who don't.

That sounds about right. It's funny how tastes can vary so much on this. I have a pal who isn't into gaming at all but has thousands of emulated games for his PC. He thinks I'm weird because I pay for old games and I hate pirating stuff  .

Do you think that a USB socket on a TV would be enough to power it? Otherwise, why would they not include a plug?

I guess the assumption is that we all have a few usb plugs kicking around.

I don't.

I have to say, this is quite possible the greatest thing I've ever seen.

I think it's going to be the Xmas Hit of 2016.

Trelliz wrote:Alternatively get a Rasperry Pi and a USB memory stick. Load every NES, SNES, Megadrive and Master System ROM onto it and plug in a couple of USB pads. Probably cost less too. Seeing as this is emulating them all anyway what's the difference?

EDIT: *Note that an AC adapter for the USB cable is required to play the system but is not included in the packaging.

Just saw a news story about it and the comments all seemed pretty positive, it could actually do well if the price is right.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Wow.

I'm not interested in it, but well done. Nintendo could have a winner on their hands here. People have a lot of nostalgia for this sort of stuff.

I also would be more interested in a snes version. Still have my n64 with any games that I would be interested in so I'm not fussed about that at the moment. Having said that I was interested in the mega drive linked above when it launched but never bought that despite being a Sega fanboy in that era.

Hopefully this does well enough to warrant a SNES version.

Hmm, didn't realise Sega had already tried this. I might just look into Raspberry Pi as I'd rather have all of them in one place. Already have a load of classics on my Wii but it just looks so ugly without an upscaler.

But sn N64 version would be an instacop./ Isn't N64 emulation notoriously tricky though? And they can probably make more via Virtual Console on NX.
