I've been playing this quite a bit, but I have to say, there are too many of the great NES games missing for my liking, and too many lightweight games on there.

Yes we've got Mario 1,2,3, Zelda 1,2, Kirby, Megaman 2 etc, but apart from those, the games which really pushed the NES to the limit aren't there (no doubt many due to licensing reasons).

I would have loved: the Capcom Disney games (Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Chip N Dale etc.), Castlevania 3, Megaman 1,3,4, Bucky O Hare, Life Force, Batman 1,2, Probotector (Contra 1), Turtles,

The NES was the one system where 3rd party games probably outshone Nintendo's own games (apart from Mario 3). I guess the more 3rd party games on the system though, the less money Nintendo makes...

Nintendo are like that really attractive woman you keep going back to for sex, even though she has a horrible personality and treats you like gooseberry fool.

Rapidly-greying is Mediocre to Average at games :fp:

You've hit the nail on the head, Andy - it's not a case of "because Nintendo" but "because licensing". It'd be great to see those games on the system but licensing would need to be setup between Nintendo and the publisher plus - way more costly - between the publisher and the character IP owner.

Of course, when it comes to a Wii U mini and a Switch mini we won't see as many probs, because they have no third party gaems.

Joke.

I have all those on my NES Mini, it's not hard to do.

Hmm...knowing me and my lack of technical skills, I would brick my NES Mini if I did that...

I also don't have a PC - only a Macbook, so not sure it it's even possible. It would be great though :-)

Is there anyway to reset the NES Mini to how it was if you miss the whole thing up?

If I had a second NES Mini, I would probably try...

Yeah I've got a Mac and managed to get everything downloaded and set up until the point where you have to connect the NES via USB and the drivers required were PC only. Just borrowed a laptop instead.

I think you can flash the original firmware onto it to revert it back to normal

Thanks - will give it a go only if Nintendo releases more NES Minis and I can buy a second one :-)

When you do this, it takes a dump of your kernal, so you can restore it if it doesn't work.

I think it's safe to say, that this thing has now officially been discontinued by Nintendo.

There was a shipment about a month ago to some retailers, and I was lucky to grab one then for the RRP of £50.

But there's been no news since then. Let's face it, Nintendo is 100% focused on Switch.

I just wish they would release some more controller...I want the NES controllers for my Wii Virtual Console.

Hopefully they'll do one last batch before switching their focus to create the SNES Mini in time for Christmas

I spoke to the manager of a local independent games shop last week (which was selling new NES Minis for £120)!!

He said there's no more supply due, and the only way he can get them is to buy them in himself off private individuals (as opposed through proper suppliers).

I think the NES Mini was a filler as Nintendo had nothing else last Christmas.

I doubt we'll get a SNES Mini - Nintendo wants to sell as many Switches as possible and needs to focus consumers mind on the Switch only.

That's crazy. The NES Mini has sold well and I think a SNES Mini would sell even more.

Sure they want to sell Switches, but I doubt the production and sale of Mini consoles would have any impact on Switch sales.
