[7:10] Next reporter says his intern is wondering where Pikmin 3 is, since he apparently mentioned it.

[7:10] He laughs off the questions, saying he was misquoted by a British newspaper.

[7:10] Even though he apparently promised it at this very event 3 years ago.

[7:11] He then laughed, and said hey didn't want to bring Pikmin here because the other games would distract from it.

[7:11] "Rest assured, though, we are very hard at work on Pikmin."

Now, I like Pikmin but never got why people are so obsessed about seeing another one. It's not a AAA title, it's a good game, nothing more

  • Quality Nintendo game that isn't Mario, Zelda, Metroid - Yes please!
  • Original gameplay - a mesh of RTS, adventure and puzzle
  • Pretty environments, cute characters, interesting
  • Lots of replay value - how many days can you complete it in
Err, what isn't AAA about it? Pikmin 2 has a great multiplayer, lots of thought and effort, great graphics, solid music and most importantly it's huge fun to play.

Why did my past self say this? I'll retract that AAA statement, that was more of a wind up

I just thought it was a one trick pony, nothing more nothing less.

I didn't mean to sound like a cock. Apologies if I did.

I just don't like hearing 'AAA this' and 'AAA that' as much as I have these past few years.

I'm just a grumpy old bastard.

Pikmin 2 had those annoying randomly generated hole things though.

I thought the first one was the best out of the two, great games but not in the league of the main franchises. Would definitely buy another one though.

I've avoided playing the first two Pikmin games in order to enjoy this third potential release the best I can. I'm a tad disheartened by the lack of information concerning the title, but I'm happy to wait; I don't know what I'm missing, so delays don't hurt quite so much.

Are you quite mad? Play Pikmin 2 as soon as possible. It's awesome.

He later joked that they were making two other games - might have been Zelda he was talking about, I can't quite remember - "then we'll get around to Pikmin". He was in a very playful mood, it was great.

Zelda - very nice! A cross between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, visually. Interesting use of the controller too, any word on if swordplay control approaches 1:1?

3DS - Slightly disappointed at how much it looks like a DSi, but if Kid Icarus is anything to go by it ought to be able to provide visuals as nice as the GCN. Incredible (launch?) line-up too, really impressive; OOT, SF64, MK3DS, Prof. Layton, MGS, Resi etc. Hope the slide pad isn't too gooseberry fool, or I might wait until the 3DS Lite.

Pikmin - Don't care.

The design of the 3DS is perfect from a marketability standpoint. The DS achieved its success by appealing to a mainstream of society and Nintendo have succeeded in educated a lot of people in how to use the technology, so radically changing the interface would be a mistake. The 3DS is a pretty easy sell, since it is a DS but more powerful and incorporates thing that everyone, gamer and non-gamer, is talking about: 3D. Additionally, its design allows it to be backwards compaitible with all DS games, a key feature for more casual users who would bulk at their exitsing games being made unplayable on new hardware. Add to that its 3D photography and media potential for films and such and you have a almost guaranteed commercial success. That's before you consider the fact that the DS started with very thin developer support and only achieved its current level of titles by proving itself as popular. This time the console is starting off with pretty much every big player in the industry falling over themselves to develope titles for the thing. Nintendo have pretty much assured their dominance in the handheld market for years to come.

My one concern is that people with impaired vision in one eye, or only sight in one eye, will not be able to play the system. No 3DS for Gordon Brown...

I hope they're not all launch titles, otherwise I'll have to declare bankruptcy

I'd love Pikmin on the 3DS, it seems so perfect and the demo of it looked AMAZING on the 3DS screen.

Couldn't they just turn off the 3D effect?
