As a U owner I am a wee bit frustrated by the number of first-party ports... especially as the games are being priced higher than they were on Wii U about three years ago. Even so, combined with third-party hits and indie titles, I feel there is still a great selection of titles to keep most players occupied.
I agree, there's tons for most, I'm just looking at it from my point of view, where there is very little, as the portability aspect of having 3rd party and indies games is totally irrelevant for me and I get them all on PC.
I'm in the same boat as you, I buy consoles for exclusives and get anything else on my PC. While I totally understand the ports from a business point of view it's a little disappointing that they're such a big component of the lineup. There's not enough new content in any of them to warrant me buying them again at full-price, I'd consider it for portability if they were at a budget price but that isn't the case (and going by usual Nintendo prices it probably never will be either).
As far as the exclusives go which are new games I'm not particularly excited by Kirby or Yoshi at this point, I have enough scarcely played Kirby/Yoshi games in my backlog as it is. The only one that really grabs me right now is Mario Tennis Aces, I've been waiting since the Gamecube for a good Mario Tennis game and this is looking promising. I always thought the Wii U version played a decent game of tennis but was just so lacking in content that it was barely worthwhile, hopefully this can be more up to the standard of early Mario Tennis games.
I loved Luigi's Mansion on Gamecube but what I was really hoping for was a HD remaster for Switch, or even better a Switch compilation of the first and second games. Getting it on 3DS is pretty disappointing, it won't look as nice as it did on Gamecube, nor will it play as well due to the lack of dual analogue. Not to mention I don't have much desire to play my 3DS anymore. Seems like a wasted opportunity. Wario Ware is similar, it looks like it has most of the best games from the GBA/DS versions plus some new ones, it would have been perfect as a downloadable game on the Switch.
Smash was the most exciting part of the direct but I want to know more about it. It was hardly a bad direct but just fell short of giving me what I actually wanted!
