It's probably influenced by the degree you like mech stuff.

I like mech stuff and quasi fantasy sci-fi settings so it was a good fit for me. I might go back to the stupid amount of side quests. I often think of that when thinking about buying Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or XC2 remastered. Before I do I ought to finish XC on New 3DS first, which is a perfectly good port gameplay wise.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

XC3/XC1 > XC2 ------>XCX

I like XCX but it's easily the worst. I hope they do some work on it to make it the best experience possible, when it is eventually rereleased. It could be the best if it is expanded and has some QoL improvements added.

XC2 > XC3 > XC1 for me.

All excellent games overall but the soundtrack, story and combat system in 2 just reach heights the other two can't touch for me. :wub:

3 is definitely worth checking out for anyone that hasn't yet - it runs really well on the current Switch so don't be put off by any technical concerns! (Monolith Soft are genuine miracle workers on that hardware!)

XC3 > XC1 > XC2 >> XCX

Generally a consistently very strong 4 games, XCX is the worst of the lot, but still a fine game.

3 > 2 > 1 >> X

2 has the best combat (after you look it up), vistas, and music. 3 has the best characters, plot, and accessibility. 1 did a lot well for the time, for me it's been bettered on basically everything but is still a strong solid game and probably 2nd place in the series on basically every metric.

X was very strange. It felt like an MMO, both in the attempt at a significant online component and the low quality the main quest compared to some of the side quests (which were belting). It felt like it might have had the best combat system of the bunch, but the game didn't want you to know that. And the world was really odd-feeling too, not quite sterile but definitely a lot less friendly. Makes sense with the themes of the game I guess.
