People much smarter than me are going to make some amazing stuff with this. And then I'm going to mercilessly steal it and pass it off as my own to impress my kids.

Ended up cancelling my pre orders. Don't have much time as it is and I have tons of games to work my way through so was a toss up between Nintendo Lob-on or God Of War on PS4. Now having a 4K tv and being a big GoW fan it was an obvious choice. Still think it looks fantastic and will definitely get it at some point.

The game looks like a cool little tool box of what the Switch can do, yeah it ridiculously expensive but dam if I was a kid I'd be crazing my folks like mad for this.

The cardboard bit is rapidly becoming the least interesting thing in this package, the stuff you can do with the garage mode looks insane.

I'm not meant to be in this thread 'cos I don't want to be tempted by Labo. I'd cancelled my ore-order and not read any of the news updates about it.

I love the creativity it encourages, though :shifty: .

Reviews are out

https://www.theverge.com/2018/4/18/1725 ... arning-diy
Labo is an experience where creating and building are just as much fun as playing. It eases you into this world: at the beginning, you’re simply folding cardboard. But just a few hours later, you’re trying to figure out how to turn a box into an interactive drum kit.

https://www.cnet.com/products/nintendo-labo/review
The Good: Incredible cardboard designs. Really well-done step-by-step instructions. Labo's software and games are fun to play and explore. There's a lot to do, and a sense that many secrets await unlocking.
The Bad: Yes, it’s mostly just cardboard. The kits can be daunting for younger kids. There's a risk of things breaking, so handle with care. And, where do you store all those large cardboard things later on?
The Bottom: Line Nintendo Labo is a fun and unique Switch add-on -- a Lego-meets-Ikea cardboard construction set that will unlock kids’ real-world creativity.

My 11-year old reviews Nintendo Labo: 'I think it's going to be the hot new craze'

[…]Meanwhile, as a parent, I think Nintendo has struck the right tone for kids. The onscreen instructions supply encouragement--(e.g.: “Push it through the opening as far as it will go. (It might be difficult, but you can do it.”)) Sam and I appreciated that you can easily manipulate the touchscreen to view animated instructions from different angles, and easily rewind or skip ahead as necessary.

Completely forgot that this is out next week.

Still got my Robot pre-order in, looking forward to giving it a go when it arrives.

Still got both sets pre-ordered, from the previews I'm thinking about getting rid of the Robot one and it looks a little limited in comparison to the Variety kit.

I'm really hyped for this. I just wish I had the imagination to go along with it. Ah well, it's going to be fun making the supplied stiff with my kids and then we'll tinker from there and see what we can come up with.

Looks like the Variety kit really does offer a lot of "variety", I thought it would a collection of half ass mini games just made to give these cardboard accessories purpose. But dam I really want this now, reminds me of Warioware D.I.Y

Don't know whether the Robot one offers anything bar anything we've already seen.

I hear you get 2 N sheets instead of an O sheet if you voted for Captain Toad.

So I have built the car, first impressions are that it's extremely clever but a bit boring. Then "OMFG it has a secret camera"

My 4 year old bloody loves it.

D'aww :)

Not surprised that this stuff's proving to be catnip for kids, must be setting their imaginations alight like wildfire

I'm seriously considering buying the variety set. Damn.
