Sounds fantastic. I'd love to try them all but I'm not paying that kind off money for it.

Yeah, I've no intention of buying this stuff myself. I'll leave it for the market it's aimed at kids/families. Just think it's a genius concept!

Showed the kids the video, explained what it was all about. Can't honestly say they were all that interested.

Eldest will be 12 this year so I guess that figures and she much prefers her painting, drawing and drama. Her 8 year old sister simply didn't seem all that bothered by Labo. That may change over the course of the year if Labo takes off and her friends end up getting it, but for now I'm going to have to think of something else for birthdays/Christmas.

I just pre-ordered both packs.

I'll probably cancel one or both closer to the time but I wanted the option.

Preordered (Variety pack and stickers). The twins (10) are mad for it.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I bet they are. :D

I've preordered the same pack, but it'll probably be at least a year or so before I actually get any of them out for my boy. He's not quite 2 yet; I reckon a three year old would be ok with some of those games. Maybe.

Poser would it not be worth just holding off in that case? I can see these getting a discount at some point even if it's just a 3 for 2 on black Friday or something.

I've got a variety pack pre-order in but may cancel nearer the time and then look to reorder when the kid's birthdays roll round in the autumn.

Yeah, possibly. I have pre-order paranoia now. They might run out of cardboard or something. :fp:

What a clever idea,I think it looks great. The more closed minded of society will frown upon it and chastise the price but it's genuinely decent value.

I predict that it won't sell all that well though, which is a shame.

Rapidly-greying is Mediocre to Average at games :fp:

I think 12 year olds will be after more intellectual persuts. I was coding and writing and performing rock songs in a band then. There'll be far more advanced kits for this sort of thing, real electronics etc.

I'd say 10 max is the primary market.

Absolutely. That said, my 12 year does enjoy spending lots of time with her younger sister so I thought Labo would be something we could all get involved in for a bit of fun. Guess I was wrong. Kids grow up far too fast! :dread:

It seems that Nintendo won't be issuing plans for people to try and make their own cardboard replacement bits. Possibly a shame but, in reality, how many folk would have the skills and time to replicate the bits correctly anyway?

I don't *think* I'm gonna dive in for Labo, even though it appears to be wonderfully fun and creative. Money-wise it is arriving at the wrong time for me and - although this sounds a bit silly, I guess - I don't have the space for all those cardboard devices.

Definitely not dissing the product, though; there is a ton of potential in it.

I found that really unlikely anyway, it was just some dodgy French translation or straight up made up journalism.

If I didn't have a kid, I wouldn't be interested at all.

But honestly, I can still remember all the daft gooseberry fool I used to make as a kid. I remember making stuff out of cardboard and wishing it did more. I can also remember my first game playing experiences from the age of 3/4 - an early pong machine, and my uncle's Atari 2600.

I think these Labo creations seem like pretty fun memories to help create.

It'll happen super quickly anyway, the maker community are going to play with this.
