I shared that sentiment, but I think you'll be surprised. I know I was.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

This will be the console's first Christmas, and I imagine it'll be the main entry point for a lot of younger gamers. It's literally selling out as it comes into stock now, what's it going to be like when loads of kids have it on their Christmas list, and a bunch of gamers are ready to jump in for Super Mario Odyssey, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2?

Is there any chance of Xenoblade releasing this year? I'd be amazed if it did.

I'm in at the end of July (1st month post car loan) if Stardew Valley is imminent. If not then I'll keep my eye out for a bundle during August/September.

Played a little Puyo Puyo Tetris with the missus, not a massive fan of the mode that is Puyo Puyo and Tetris at the same time. The other 4 modes are cool though.

Spent ages looking for the PPT thread and there isn't one.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3

It's been around 4 years since DKC:TF came out on Wii U and I think Retro are big enough to work on mor Ethan one project so I wonder if we may get a DKC sequel this year with a new Metroid in 2018?

Tropical Freeze, despite being one of the best games ever, was a commercial flop. Hopefully they'll give it another chance with a Switch remaster, although I would love a new game.

As for Metroid, other than a very vocal mainly US minority, I don't think anyone really wants or needs a new Metroid Prime game. It's no longer a big franchise, and I hope Retro is doing something else.

What I still want more than anything is a true sequel to Diddy Kong Racing with an amazing open world adventure racing mode :-)

I don't think the people wanting another Metroid Prime game are a vocal minority at all. Quite the opposite.

Sunday Switch news

> Rogue Trooper Redux, a remake of the Xbox, PS2 and (later) Wii hit based on the blue warrior from 2000 AD, is coming to the Switch as well as the PS4 and XBO :toot:

> Thumper, the PS4 hit, is coming to Switch this month and details are now listed in the eShop

> So... you can choose to mark your Switch friends as "Best friends" if you want to. It doesn't appear to do anything, though? Or... does it?

I want them to take Metroid Prime back to its roots. There was a lot of extra 'stuff' that got in the way of my enjoyment in the sequels. Metroid should predominantly be that lonely experience of slowly exploring an abandoned, interconnected world that is sometimes creepy and sometimes beautiful. There shouldn't be dialogue, allies, NPCs, alternate worlds, planet-hopping... it's all crap that undermines the core experience.

I really hope they bring Metroid Prime Trilogy HD to Switch, imagine having that on the go!

Are they big enough? Genuine question because their release history suggests otherwise.

I'm sure there have been comments that they are, it's been 4 years so I'm expecting big things from Retro.

Doing the F-Zero tracks in Mario Kart really makes me want a proper F-Zero. I don't know why they just don't speed out a remaster of GX as that was arguably the best futuristic racer of all time.

I always say this. Surely they could get someone like Monster Games to a HD version of GX with online play.

I found the tracks in F-Zero X a bit too simplistic, like there were hardly any corners. I remember the big thing was the loop the loops that Wipeout never had at the time, which sounded good on paper but was basically just a straight bit of track in reality!

I really wish these VC titles were on Switch though. F-Zero X is one I never bought for the Wii-U despite adoring it on the N64, but the thought of having that portable and with me on the go is really enticing.

All this talk is making me think about digging my N64 and GC out again!

I suspect that, whatever they're working on, it started out as a Wii U title and they've since transferred it over to Switch. I hope it is something special... it feels like it should be, but I'm kind of intrigued as to why they are one of the most silent developers ever. Even more than the old Ultimate Play The Game / Rare  .

The alternative is they cancelled a project and started again.

I think it's also worth noting Nintendo have used approximately a third of the studio's staff in the past to assist on other Nintendo titles, than the Retro's current primary game in development (e.g. MK7, DKCR 3DS conversion).
