That's probably a more complicated question than you realise. I'll answer with gradually-escalating spoilers.
1. Technically, it's a mechanic all game.
2. But really, it is less and less of a problem as you play more: once you start getting higher-level mobs, you'll have more decent weapons than you know what to do with...
3. Side quest spoilers: ...and you'll be relying on weapons less as you upgrade abilities...
4. Loot spoilers: ...and you'll also get access to fancier arrows, and acquire damage-up potions and gear, and durability-up weapons, all of which help manage durability.
5. Main quest reward/loot spoilers, I think it's a pretty light spoiler but if you want to be absolutely spoiler free maybe don't click this: If you pursue the main quest, you get weapons which can be reforged or recharged.
6. High-level (end-game-ish) loot spoilers, again, I don't personally think this is a huge spoiler but click at your own risk: Very much later on, you can forge the best weapons in the game using bits of Guardians as raw materials.

The main thing is to not be frightened of the durability system. Don't fall into the trap of playing the game with a stick because you're saving all your shiny swords for a harder baddie.

This is one of the things that frustrated me when I originally played the game. I had a stick or something and it seemed that every three swipes or so it was breaking. The other aspect that I got stuck on was how to survive in the cold area. However, I've read earlier in this thread that you can get a jumper from the old man so I will look out for that.

I plan on returning to the game - starting right back from the start - this evening :-).

To get it from the old man you have to complete a task for him. He asks you to beat the Cleric Beast

The game is all about creative problem solving, particularly at the start. For example, if you have trouble with the cold, there are lots of ways to deal with that. You can:
1. Do the side-quest with the old man to receive a coat.
2. Make food with peppers in, to get the Cold Resistance buff.
3. Carry a lit torch.
4. Sprint to where you want to go while downing apples for health.
I have probably missed at least one other possible strategy. There are even more methods for dealing with the cold that open up later on (potions, other garments, wielding flame weapons...). They are all valid ways to approach the problem. Do what you find fun.

To be honest I would actually suggest you click all of those spoiler boxes and thoroughly spoil "dealing with cold" for yourself. "Dealing with cold" is a tiny part of the game's mechanics, and I think seeing the full gamut of ways you can deal with it will inspire you to apply similar creativity to other tasks in the game (like "dealing with heat" or "dealing with rain" or "crossing a river" or... :) ).

Hey, Karl, thanks for the guides, dude! I recall that I did start cooking a recipe that'd keep me warm, but I didn't have enough ingredients to make it last long.

Going back to the game, I reckon I'm in the right frame of mind for taking my time, exploring and trying things out. I'm pretty excited about it!

I've been thinking about a replay of the game, but I'm currently doing so with Odyssey. I doubt that one will take long, which means I'll soon be exploring the ruins of Hyrule again. It was a fun game to explore, and I think I'll take my chances with the towers again before any of the beasts. Doing it that way is certainly a fun way of going about the game.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Only really quoting this so you come back to more notifications than your one-minute time slot will allow you to deal with.

That’s mean

Morning all how is everyone today?

Pretty good, thanks for asking.

My neighbour is asking me about the Switch and internet connectivity, her son wants one but they dont internet in their home so she wants to know if theres any games that need an internet connection. The only ones I can think of are WWE 2k18, Doom and LA Noire, where not everything is on the cart, none of these he would be interested in or allowed play. Are there others that need a download in addition to the contents of the cart?

Please Poser, serious answers only, this is very important.

Sorry. I'm actually not sure - you kinda take it as read that everyone has internet. Has anyone actually tried to load a Switch and play Odyssey without having a connection? I'd be (genuinely) keen to find out.

Take him to the local Maccies and bum some wifi.

I’ve started Breath of the Wild again too, I really didn’t like it before, but I feel that was me expecting one thing and getting another.

Two devine beasts down and it’s really clicked, I completely understand the game, the world and how to survive it.

It’s probably just behind Mario World for me now.

Been seeing random clips of this Wizards of Legend game on twitter. Looks pretty legit. Anyone else been playing it here?

Zora and Goron’s so far, they were a bit easy but getting to them was a real challenge.

Played a fair bit of the Octopath Demo. Its really really good. Surprisingly large for a demo as well as I've only just made it to the sand town and I've spent a couple of hours playing. Not even touched the other characters campaign either. The combat is snappy and satisfying with enough ideas going on even at this early stage thats its not got boring despite being very accessible and thats just with a party of 1. Absolutely charming presentation. Hopefully the maps get a little more interesting as just finding chests could get a bit dull.

Really excited to see how this turns out. I've been playing as the knight so most of my time has been walking around the village knocking everyone out. :slol:
