I'm there day one for a hypothetical PS4 Pro/Xbox One X style upgrade, though Nintendo didn't set a good precedent for that with the new 3DS; next to no older titles received enhancements for it, while improvements on new games were nowhere near as frequent as they should've been.

At the very least, hopefully games with dynamic resolution can benefit right off the bat as suggested in the DF video.

Nintendo Switch System Update 5.0.0 Is Now Available

Here's what's new, direct from Nintendo's mouth:

Facebook and Twitter friends that also use Nintendo Switch can now be added through Friend Suggestions

Select from 24 new ARMS and the Kirby series icons for your user

Digital software purchases made from a PC or smart device will start downloading sooner than previously, even if the Nintendo Switch
    console is in Sleep Mode

Filter News to view only unread news or news from specific channels

Receive notification when pre-purchased software is ready to play

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller grip colors will now display in the Controllers menu

Resolved an issue that caused Play Activity to display incorrectly in the Profile section of your User Page

A few nice things there, though man I'm really aching for for save backups + data migration between internal & external storage.

I've played it a bit on PC, s'terrific! I'm a sucker for hookshot esque mechanics which Flinthook executes with flying colours, it's all round a super polished product with excellent visuals in particular. Only thing is I'm not 100% sure it benefits from being a roguelike, I'd have probably preferred it with less punishing difficulty and non-randomly generated levels.

Still highly recommended all the same!

I got it on PC just before I got my Switch and now I don't know whether to rebuy it or not. :x

I wonder when Nintendo will enable the home-button LED. I'd also be there day one for any potential Switch upgrades.

There's a separate joycon update as well. No one seems to know what it does. Again.

They just need to release a dock to improve the home console experience (not that I've found it lacking in anyway personally), the portable experience seems to be pretty much spot on from what I've watched, read and experienced in my time with the Switch. Not sure if the USB-C actually has the transfer rate to benefit from a powered dock of sorts though.

I don't see the Switch changing size though as that'd mean there also be numerous sizes of joy cons about the place, different sized docks. Would they go for a 1080P screen? I can't see them going this way either as it'd probably hurt the battery life more than they'd want. I can see it getting the New 3DS treatment in an updated processor, as the video pointed out it might just make more sense to switch to the Tegra X2 rather than stick with the X1 unless they do get another large run of the X1 chips.

Thinking about Switch revisions just makes me think Nintendo should stick with the type of console they've got currently, rather than than trying to majorly change it. They've really hit the sweet spot with the Switch in my opinion and I'd like to just see them advance the concept for a couple of generations at least.

They could decrease the size of the bezel to increase the screen size slightly without adjusting size of the unit so joycons would be unaffected. I don’t think it needs to be much bigger to be honest anyway. An improved dock sounds like the easiest way to go to me.

Whatever they decide to do, I can imagine they will be very aware of the mistakes they made with the Wii U in not offering a clear, concise message to the consumer.

Daniel Bloodworth of Easy Allies previews a new racer called Trailblazers (coming to Switch); looks like a combination of F-Zero, Splatoon and more recently Fast Racing Neo. Looks fantastic, colour me interested :slol: :fp:

I can definitely see this happening.

I think a lot depends on just how good Nintendos dev tools are. The X1 is a relatively old chip at this stage so theres potential for a decent enough step up powerwise but I don't think the Switch is currently being hampered by a lack of power. If Nintendos tools are good then they could release an updated Switch with a 1080p screen in late 2019 that plays the same games at 1080p in tablet mode and possibly at 4K in docked mode. I'm not suggesting XboxoneX level performance and upgraded in game assets, it'd be more like the way Dolphin can render a Gamecube game at HD or 4K resolutions. I don't think the form factor of the machine needs to change bar maybe improving the touchstand and adding support for smart covers like the iPad/Nvidia Shield tablet.

That 11.49 thing is really tiresome.

It's a kooky cool gimmick.

For the big 5.0 the update is a bit underwhelming, guess the update was coming last week to tie in with the direct but I guess it was delayed cause of the play time reset glitch.
