Even if you made a mistake and bought a Grey one, you can have yourself a Mirror Neon model for less than £70 extra (assuming you can find stock).

I'm a grey pleb.

@jawa No need to sell my WiiU just seems a shame to have it boxed lonely in the garage, when someone could make use. I dont have a man cave to set up all my computers and consoles in.

What happens in 5-10 years time when you feel like a bit of Wii U gaming but can't set it back up because you've sold it all and it costs a fortune to repurchase everything?

Given the progress CemU has made even recently by then it'll be as solid as Dolphin is now, i reckon.

Wait, what? How did I end up owning a Switch before jawafour? What's going on? Where am I?

I held out for quite a while... I was unsure and wanted to read up on people's thoughts before I jumped aboard!

So... I have setup my machine :toot: . This took way longer than expected because (a) I hadn't realised I had keyed the wifi password incorrectly about twenty times :fp: and (b) I couldn't work out what NNID / Nintendo Account / My Nintendo sequence of codes and passwords I was meant to key in to link up my Nintendo details :x .

But, hey... finally got there! My initial thoughts based on only thirty minutes of use are:

+ The console and joy-con have a better build quality than I'd anticipated
+ The screen gives an excellent, sharp image
+ The user interface is clear and clean
+ The Pro Controller is lovely
+ I love the small game cases!
+ The switch between portable and TV play works extremely well
- The eShop looks like it has been knocked up in under ten minutes
- No internet browsing, no Miiverse (which, frankly, I can't quite believe)... and why have we gone back to Friend codes? And then you can't message your Friends? The system features are incredibly basic; a real step back from the Wii U and 3DS

Overall, I really like it. Game-wise I have only played five minutes of Kart and that's excellent; the picture does look sharper running in 1080p than the Wii U 720p version. I can't wait to check the machine out further during this evening! I just hope that Nintendo are beefing up development of the system features; the hardware is lovely and it would be exciting to see the machine running an improved Miiverse and other cool stuff.

Hey Jawa, I think I agree totally with your initial thoughts. It's refreshing to have a console that is so easy to just turn on and play without fuss. I think it has a polished up market feel to the UI. Feature wise it is bare bones though. I'm hoping Nintendo are playing this as a kind of soft launch with a bomb of features dropped later ready for Christmas.

The interface is way faster than the WiiU ever was as well.

That's a good shout, 'Quake - I've just jumped back on it and the UI really is pretty speedy. I'm enjoying using it... I just hope that additional features arrive fairly swiftly :-).

I'm gonna give Kart a proper whirl now!

To be honest I'm not sure they are going to bother with much.

I mean I think at some point they'll have to give some more options for the base UI and I assume the eShop will get more options. If it sells a lot then perhaps we'll get some streaming media apps, but I think it'd have to be something that the companies involved wanted to pursue, can't see Nintendo going out of their way to get streaming companies on board.

They seem to have purposefully ditched Miiverse, I guess they figure that rather than spend their time on developing it for Switch they'd be better off linking into existing social networks and concentrating on making games.

Oh and it seems they want to keep all Friend based communication away from the console itself, its all going to be in their mobile app. Strange choice I agree, but its what they've gone for.

Spent an afternoon playing Mario Kart with some friends, wirelessly linking consoles, sharing screens and joycons. This machine is kinda sublime
