It's a 6/10 game with a brilliant dialogue system, rubbish dialogue and rubbish puzzles.

Sorry.

Base.com have a few Switch games on sale at the moment including

RIME - £19.99
Mario+Rabbids - £29.99
Dragon Quest Builders - £29.84

https://www.base.com/games/pg735/bn10007920/GamesSale.htm?filter=a%3a3%3a382881%2ca%3a3%3a285439%2ca%3a3%3a45%2ca%3a3%3a356884

I picked up RIME and DQB, RIME got patched recently and from what I have heard seems to run and look much better on Switch now

The sync button is the small button on the edge of the Joy-Con that you can use to manually pair it with the Switch. It's not the share button.

Didn't realise that existed, I thought you just paired them by docking them to the switch

All is good!

Yeah it's not really mentioned much. I've only ever had to use it once when it just wouldn't connect to the Switch. Took me a while to find it and I was convinced my Joy-Con was strawberry floated.

Bugger. I'm sure it was recommended by someone on here :slol:

I'll ditch it. It's doing nothing for me whatsoever.

It's a shame as it's a lovely looking game with a really well designed system for choosing dialogue. Unfortunately these are attached to a fairly uninteresting ghost story populated with extremely annoying characters and boring gameplay design.

I quite liked Oxenfree :shifty:

it was a simple, visual novel-like game with simple gameplay mechanics but I liked the interactions between the characters. Good game to just chill out and play, nothing taxing

You know, one of the things that I love about Switch is that - unlike on my PS4 - I prefer to buy boxed versions rather than download versions. Box artwork is back! Looking over my collection, most of the covers are pretty reasonable... with some standing out for the "right" and "wrong" reasons!

"Bad"
> The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I mean, come on... I like the American artwork over the UK / Euro version. What happened?!? Link looking back over his shoulder, a blurry mountain range and some blurry bird wings edging into the top of the scene. Pile of pony! And the USA version looks great :x .

> Super Mario Odyssey. For me, Super Mario Galaxy was the gold standard of Mario covers. 3D world was kinda fun, if a little too cute... whilst Odyssey is completely unmemorable. A mix of scenes cobbled together with Mario looking a little unfamiliar; it's just rather dull. The saving grace is the logo as that does look smart. Not terrible; just plain and unworthy of the game.

> Poi Explorer Edition. So generic... SUPER generic! To be fair, the artwork does mirror the in-game presentation, as that is entirely "adequate", too. The boy and the girl are okay, but their style does nothing to draw you in. the collectible gold ring looks ropey, too. I still like the gameplay, though :) .

"Good"
> The End Is Nigh. Smart, well-coloured, attention-grabbing... I really like the design. The logo is great and the grey design fits the style of the game. The face at the foot of the logo is simple and yet cool. A basic design but one that stands out! Plus a colour manual and a wee (okay, tiny) sticky Ash blob!

>The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth +. Now, here's a cover where the UK / Euro version improved upon the American original. Great artwork, lovely colour, a vibrant presentation... excellent! Plus a colour manual and stickers!

> Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In my view, this is a step up from the good Wii U original; it's super-colourful, packed with action and just looks exciting! Rainbow road(s), masses of fireworks - it's *completely* over-the-top but all the better for it!

So... that's my take. Do you love or dislike any other box covers? Let us know!

And remember, no-one is "right" or "wrong"! As our professional crayon-wielders The Watching Artist, SandyCoin and Gecko will testify... beauty is in the eye of the beholder :toot: .

I prefer the brighter colours of the euro BOTW boxart, but Japan wins just for the beautiful logo

I also think the Poi boxart does a great job of summing up the game. It's colourful and has a windmill, floating islands /and/ an airship, so I like it!

The Ittle Dew 2+ boxart is great:

Yeah, that looks pretty fun, Orange. Nicalis are really making an effort with their packaging and it's a shame that we don't see more of them here in the UK. I imported The End Is Nigh but luckily Isaac got a UK version and I snapped that up at a discount.

I’ve picked up all the Nicallis releases so far as I like having the colour manuals and little trinklets that include.

I buy all the main first and third party games as physical (anything I would consider a big AA or AAA game basically) I don’t bother picking up the Limited Run releases that have started to come out now

The Bayonetta one sticks out to me for all the wrong reasons, looks like something a 13 year old nerd who's never spoken to a woman before would want on their game case.

They have put out some excellent stuff; good-quality packaging for "standard" versions of games. Have you got Cave Story, Milner? I would like a copy but it was USA-only and still seems to be about £35. Even the eShop version is £26! :fp: ... I'm pretty sure I paid about £7 for the Wii U and 3DS versions.

I have Cave Story, Tiny Barbarian, Ittle Dew 2 and Binding of Issac (Although this is the PAL Headup games version)

I’ve got the Wonderboy Nicallis physical release on pre-order too! I was really hoping Shovel Knight and Yooka Laylee got similar releases but alas nothing announced yet.

That's pretty cool, had no idea Nintendo games were coming out on the Shield in China.

I think literally every good Wii and Wii U will be on Switch by the end of its life-cycle. Got my fingers crossed for Mario Maker soon...
