Surely day one you need to get the console, zelda and a pro controller bare minimum and maybe an additional game.

A splatoon and mk8 demo would be a great idea to keep us going until the summer.

It is exciting to think that you can play the new Zelda whenever, wherever. I would really like a Direct next week to get the hype up again and relay any fears that we might have another Wii U on our hands

Yeah I do think a Direct with some exciting news a week or so before launch would really help with the hype train. My concern is that their silence on the matter is probably more indicative that the virtual console experience will be either gooseberry fool, or non existent than that we're getting the news we all want.

Imagine what a boost announcing something like a Gamecube Virtual Console at this stage would be!

There is a Splatoon demo coming out towards the end of March, only playable that weekend though. I think having that, or an MK8 demo available at launch would have been a wise move though.

Don't think the pro controller is a minimum requirement, from most impressions I've read it seems the grip will be more than adequate for most people. I reckon the system and Zelda (Game are doing that for £320) would be enough to get started, given what a big game Zelda is as well.

The pro controller isn't bare minimum at all. I don't really see any need for it at all just now. It was understandable with the Wii and the Wii U to a lesser extent, but not this.

Yeah I'm going to make do with the Joycon Grip option rather than shelling out for the Pro controller. I'll look at getting one of them later in the year maybe

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06WP39XBN/ref=oh_aui_d_detailpage_o00_?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Daft not to, TBH. I have no immediate plans to buy a switch, either, but I now have my first game pre-ordered

Ditto. How long do these codes last for? I'm not planning on getting a Switch for at least a year.

Edit: ffs, just as I went to checkout

I wouldn't worry, I think they'll be cancelling all the ones that did get placed. I haven't had a confirmation email yet and Amazon are generally instantaneous.

I keep forgetting that a grip is included because I'm planning to use the Joy-Cons like two Wii Remotes when the Switch isn't in handheld mode. I'm excited! :toot:

I didn't click the link, but there was a 'pre-order price guarantee' hyperlink below the price.

If it arrives on the 3rd early enough you could take it with you to play ;)

i bloody hope so  Hopefully my case turns up at the same time so i can take it in that but i bet that will be late. Either way would be nice to have a little go of it before i have to go away for a few days.

Nope, i'm getting the console and zelda, not sure why i need a pro controller. My additional games will probably be one or two VC games or maybe some interesting games released on e shop but my main time will be devoted to Zelda.

I'm a normal person with normal gaming time (that's under 10 hours a week probably even less than that right now) so Zelda is plentiful and there is no point to other games as i just won't give them attention.

That's my circumstances personally, i know some on here have way more time to game so will probably thrash zelda in a week.

Pro controller is far, far from bare minimum. I'm not getting one and I see little reason why anyone would need to

Yeah I'm excited about that too, loved holding the Wii remotes like that and that was with the additional wire to tether me I'm hoping it'll be really comfortable. My only slight concern at the moment is that the sticks aren't really offset from the buttons which may result in it not being as comfortable for long periods of time. We'll see though.

I have got a pro controller ordered at the moment as I've heard good things and I like having a range of controller options, got it pre-ordered from Zavvi for £52 after using that discount code the other day. I wasn't going to buy it but can't see it getting that cheap for a while, it's still a little on the steep side but I can live with it. It's totally unnecessary though and I may sell it on if I find I prefer the Joy Cons in the controller grip. Knowing Zavvi it probably won't get dispatched until months later anyway so will give me time to figure out if I'm happy with the controller grip or not!

No, you need the pro controller imo. Removing the joycons looks fiddly!
