No motion control or any sort of rumble in that controller though.

Yeah, it doesn't contain the NFC (amiibo) reader, either. It's not a bad option but, if folk have the funds available, personally I'd suggest going for the Pro Controller.

I'm thinking about getting one near Christmas to play some Mario Kart with the missus, what's the best deal I'm likely to get?

With the supply issues are we unlikely to see a price cut or any black Friday deals?

I would say this is going to be very unlikely. Probably the best deal you and I will find is a 'Out of stock' sign.

Check out Gameseek, they seem to have deals from time to time...

Seriously though they sell them new on eBay for £275 from a quick glance (they bloody didn't when I got mine from there :x )

Clearly the best deal you will get is the £355 my nearest CEX want for one.

The Neon console is in stock at Amazon right now for £280.

Edit: Or, for £260 at Tesco Direct using voucher code TDX-WFTW, although the console won't be in stock until 25 August.

Apparently in Japan you have to win a raffle in order to buy one of these things. This is going to be close to Wii levels of success isn't it :)

The joypads that comes with the console is too small for my hands to play MK8 split screen.

I might go for the pro controller. Not really fussed with amiboo... so far! I've managed to resist buying them.

I was going to say no, but then I looked up the sales...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_b ... e_consoles

...I mean I think Nintendo would probably be happy if it got around the 3DS mark, but its certainly got off to a decent start.

Didn't realise quite how badly the Vita actually sold, such a shame.

EDIT - To be clear that Vita figure is obviously wrong, it actually sold somewhere between 10-15 million, but basically a similar amount to Wii U.

MGS2 HD just got a port to NVIDIA Shield (on which Switch hardware is based), so it's possible a Switch version is next.

The German Amazon store has Switches in stock for €329, but the exchange rate isn't great at the moment.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I'd happily have a port of that on the Switch. Love me some Metal Gear

Fire Emblem Warriors is out in the UK on October 20th, 7 days before Mario.

It's going to be a good Christmas.

This actually looks great. Believe it's on Steam early access right now.
