I dont see them pushing the panic button over this. If theres a chip update that doesnt have this flaw then they will quietly switch (ha!) to using that instead. The DS was blown wide open relatively early and it didnt do that any major harm. Its obviously a concern but theres no need to rush out a Switch 2 or a major hardware revision because of it.

There's no need at the moment, especially if the new chips are available, but it will be interesting to see what happens next. Especially if the online in games like MK and Splatoon gets badly compromised.

I suppose it depends if it gets to the point where people can just copy Odyssey, Zelda, all the indies and emulators etc. to a micro SD card and go (which is where my mind went), then support could be affected.

Digital Foundry have been testing DK Tropical Freeze and concluded:

Docked: 1080p 60hz
Handheld: 648p 60hz

Disappointing to see sub 720p in handheld but they do say they don't think it's that noticeable.

I'm thought that while DS hardware sold brilliantly, software sales tanked (especially for third parties)?

Tropical Freeze for Switch is more-or-less a straight up port with a few tiny improvements oh and a Funky Mode.
They should've ported Country Returns as well and made it a double pack, then I would've got it.

Looking back, it's amazing they put out Metroid Prime Trilogy considering their usual penchant for single game re-releases. Clever in a way as it does help the perceived value of their releases ala Disney vault, though not especially great for the consumer...

That would have been cool but they might have not wanted to have 2 games from 2 gens in the same pack, without updating the Returns that is. Which is more work and then do you include the 3DS extras?

They want that solid 60fps. And it looks like they strawberry floating nailed that. :datass:

Seriously people if you didn't get it on Wii U buy it for Switch. As I've not played Odyssey I cant say but it could be the best Switch game.

I suspect Nintendo looked at the DKCR sales on Wii and the TF sales on Wii U and figured TF significantly underperformed and if they do a quick port to Switch at low cost, they'll make up those lost sales. As TWA says, including Returns would have been extra work and cost and they probably figured the additional Wii U owners that would convince to double dip wouldn't make it worth it.

I'd not bother with doing 'hacking' on this devices were it not for them being able to run old games and us just not being able to buy them. I only did it to my Wii u so I could play nintendont and Mario sunshine, which is something we should have been able to . Where is virtual console? Why can't be buy snes games for the switch? strawberry float sake Nintendo.

Yeah, agreed.

I'll probably leave the console alone for the next 18 months or so, and consider hacking it if and when big releases start to dry up. And even then, it'll mainly be to turn it into a retro games hub, a bit like my PSP was.

People were not exaggerating about Mario + Rabbids, it really does feel very special. Started it yesterday, finally returning to my Switch after a couple of lengthy PS4 JRPG excursions. I do think the perfect rankings will be very annoying, currently refusing to get anything less than perfect. That opening cutscene was stunning, and the world is gorgeous. I was a little concerned at the lack of Worlds (4?), but the first has so much content.

Yeah its definitely not lacking in content, I think it came it at the perfect length, felt satisfied but there was more to do if I wanted to.

They've done it keep third parties onside and the success of that has been dramatic.

If anyone is after a micro SDXC storage card for their Switch, this 128Gb Sandisk (Class 10) one seems to be a great price at £27.99 from Amazon.

Coincidentally, I ordered that exact one, just yesterday. It's a good price. I've been struggling with the on-board memory until now. I thought about going for a larger one, but figured this will do for now. By the time I need more space, the larger cards will be cheaper anyway.
