I really liked that idea. I'd love some snes controller joycons.

Please god no. I've got drawers full of proprietary controllers that only work with one or two games. Different coloured or styled joy-cons that effectively work with everything, yes. Fishing rod, no thanks.

I don't think it's going to be new hardware or accessories.

My guess would be something AR related, or something that expands on one of the 1-2-Switch games. Outside chance of it being amiibo related?

Obviously AR is difficult in a traditional sense without a camera, but the Switch does have gyros and an IR camera. HD rumble could be used too.

You know what could be fun? Placing the switch down as a "game board" and using the disconnected joycons with HD rumble to simulate rolling dice. The joycons could then be used for mini-games within the virtual board game.

I really doubt it's going to be a new controller like the ones suggested. Remember they've specifically said its "specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart". It's probably going to be some kind of toy (Perhaps a toys-to-life thing), maybe a camera that allows AR games. There's too many possibilities and no details at this point.

I've not seen anyone mention this here before, but what's to stop the Joycon connectors on the side of the Switch being replaced by something else? So you could slide the Switch into this toy Robot, which you can then interact with in some interesting ways. It would fit with the "specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart" description.

It won't be, but there are a lot of cool things they could do for these kinds of interactive experiences that just aren't possible on anything else.

I'm tuning in just to sate my appetite as I have absolutely no idea what it could be but that Ubisoft leak suggested something big. What the hell could it be??

His words were it would make the internet explode again, which could be taken as good or bad to be honest. I think what’s most likely is something that won’t appeal to hardcore gamers and so he’s expecting a negative reaction on the internet because of it.

I think maybe an updated version of Mario Paint. Use the IR to scan in 3D objects then paint them.

Hmmmm so it could be Animal Crossing switch with some new control attachment?

A Debit/Credit card reader you attach to Switch so you can pay Tom Nook real monies to buy your house?

The screen protector looks gooseberry fool though, that would bug the hell out of me.

Looks like the same screen protector I have (which I bought after my dock started to scratch the screen). The angle in that shot isn't great but it's for all intents and purposes invisible on mine.

Same here. I literally never notice it. But Ad's gonna Ad.

All in all I reckon it's definitely not for 'us'. I think it will be something aged very squarely at younger aged kids. Probably with a large amount of (expensive) collectibles attached!!

Maybe it's an amiibo board game? An NFC enabled board that talks to the switch and does a toys to life thing on the tv.

I don't think the "new way to play" will be new types of joy-con / physical controllers. Considering that the focus is on "kids" I am wondering about....

a) games in which you move an amiibo-type figurine in front of the Switch screen and that movement is reflected by a character moving on the TV screen. It'd be like a kid moving an action figure but with the results reflected on the TV screen. Tl;dr Skylanders 2.

Or...

b) a new form of Kinect-type device where movement actions are reflected on screen. Wave your arms to hit the ball! Pitch a ball by acting out the movement! No controllers required! Tl;dr Kinect 3.0.

It could be amazing but I am also prepared for it be something totally ridiculous  .
