Yeah, just hope its not a massive update that will take hours to download!

Someone on GAF mentioned you can see an option for sleep timer for media content, guess that confirms Netflix etc will be coming in the future

Just literally found out about this console . Seriously thinking about buying my first Nintendo console since the GameCube . Looked for the hardware stats but there are none ?

Watched the whole video of switching back and forth ... and it's coming out in two weeks lol

1. Yes, but you have to pay for it. Fee not announced yet in UK but based on Japanese price £20 looks a safe bet, for that you get online play, some discounts on the e-shop and you'll get a NES or SNES game (with added online features) for the month, after the month is up it will be replaced with another. There's going to be a companion phone app to manage friends, do voice chat and set up play appointments.

2. Not quite, seems to be somewhere between PS3/360/Wii U and the current gen.

3. Hardware is based on a custom Tegra Chip similar to the one used in the NVidia shield.

4. Zelda: Breath of the Wild, 1-2 Switch (weird party game title), Super Bomberman R, Just Dance and Skylanders. Binding of Isaac and I am Setsuna both coming out at launch too but I think digital only in the UK. Other games like Shovel Knight, Snipperclips, Arms, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are due out in the first couple of months.

6. It has a HD rumble feature to give haptic feedback which can supposedly simulate thins like the number of balls in a box, ice cubes in a glass, shaking a dice, the areas you get damaged in a vehicle etc. It also has an IR sensor which can detect distance from objects, the shapes of simple objects and certain hand gestures. Other than that it has much of the functionality of a Wii remote. The portable mode can also be displayed in table top mode (basically using kick stand to treat it like a really tiny TV)

5. I did!

6. Never mind.

Edit: seriously, though, that looks amazing. It's a tiny thing, but the way the little beep gets higher as you progress through the setup really makes the excitement build :D

I'm the opposite - I've never been that fussed about Nintendo consoles or their franchises but I'm really excited about the Switch now.

What part in particular has you hyped out of interest? The console itself? The upcoming games?

If it arrives on the 3rd early enough you could take it with you to play ;)

I think I'm definitely more hyped than I remember being with the Wii U and possibly even the Wii, although nothing will surpass the Gamecube excitement.

For me I'm excited most about the hardware itself, the Switch is basically the console I've wanted since I was a kid a kid. I remember longing to play Super Mario Land 2 and Pokemon Red on my TV back when I had a game boy, they were experiences I couldn't have on my TV (I didn't have a SNES or Super Game Boy!) and I was desperate to play them on a bigger screen rather than squinting at the Game Boy screen when I was at home.

Times have obviously moved on and handhelds are much better for long term play, even at home. However as recently as last year when I was playing Majora's Mask and Pokemon Sun I was longing to be able to continue them on my TV with a proper controller.

I still love handheld systems but I never seem to get enough time to really make the most of them these days, I don't commute or even travel that much and if I'm not at home I don't tend to be in a situation where I'm using a handheld that often. Most of the time I spend playing it is in bed, if I'm still awake but my girlfriend is sleeping and I know putting the TV on will wake her up. It means that generally I end up starting games on the handheld but I either don't end up finishing them or it takes a really long time as I play them so sporadically.

The Switch gives me that perfect middle ground, I can play it in handheld mode when I'm in bed (or on the rare occasions I travel and am not driving), use it when someone else is using the main TV (like I do with the Wii U) but also plug it in for that big screen experience.

I also love the look of the hardware, it is a fantastic looking device and particularly striking in Neon. The interface and UI looks far superior to the Wii/Wii U/3DS and the controller options are excellent. The price is also perfectly reasonable for me, even if some of the accessories do seem a little on the steep end.

Power wise I know some aren't all that impressed but it looks just fine for me, I'm more interested in the game play and Nintendo always have fantastic art direction. As long as its HD and the image looks nice and sharp then there'll be no complaints from me.

Of course, being able to play Zelda and the prospect of the likes of Mario Odyssey helps as well!

I was really hyped from the initial reveal but the January event left me a bit deflated. It kinda feels bare bones at the moment, I want to know more about the virtual console/eShop side of things, I want to know more about how online will work and want to see more games/features!

Thanks bob . I'll wait until more info is released before pre-ordering . Why is Nintendo so stingy with hardware just boggles the mind .

I did feel like that after the January event a little, was hoping for more at launch and the uncertainty about the online features and most specifically the virtual console left me a little cold and of course I would still like to know a bit more right now.

In spite of that though I've definitely regained that excitement since, absolutely love the look of the system and I can't wait to try it, absolutely love new hardware. Above all Zelda is my favourite gaming series, I've been looking forward to Breath of the Wild since announcement and although I could play it on my Wii U, more than anything I can't wait to be able to play it at any time. No issues if I can't use the main TV, or of losing gamepad range or not having a console quality experience. I can play the full fat version of Breath of the Wild wherever and whenever I want and I absolutely can't wait for that.

It is exciting to think that you can play the new Zelda whenever, wherever. I would really like a Direct next week to get the hype up again and relay any fears that we might have another Wii U on our hands
