What?

I did a search and it seemed fairly prominent. Something like a Bluetooth receiver that goes in the headphone jack with a Velcro pad to hold it onto the Switch.

Also a new member of the Switch club - bought mine yesterday with Zelda and Mario+Rabbids. Amazed at how small it is, how great the games look on the small screen and then how using it on the TV all just works. A very clever bit of kit, looking forward to getting back into Nintendo gaming, as the last Nintendo console I had was a Gamecube.

Can I also ask a couple of newbie questions please?

Is buying games through the e-shop a case of using a credit card or do the Nintendo points, which they had in Sainsbury's today and were all Wii branded work? If points work is there any way of getting them reduced, a la PSN points on sites like CD Keys, or does the Nintendo factor keep them at RRP.

Thanks in advance, back to Zelda! :)

Completed Axiom Verge last night. Phenomenal game and probably the best non-Metroid Metroidvania I've played. Loved the setting and story too. Just noticed the soundtrack is on Spotify :datass:

Games in the Switch eShop are priced in cash; points aren’t used. You can use a credit card or you can buy top-up cards albeit not usually at much of a discount. CDkeys sell top-ups... save 1p on £15 or £1.01 on £25.

My only gripe is that I found a few of the power ups a bit unintuitive. Other than that it is a great game.

I finished it with around 7 weapons but apparently there's 21 altogether or something like that? No idea how I managed to miss so many of them.

Main complaint I have is there's a bit too much backtracking from dead ends. Think I'll probably double dip and get it on PS4 the next time it's on sale.

Incredible it was all done by one guy.

I know it's not on switch but have you played Hollow Knight Maf? It's a great metroid styled game. Lovely looking too.

I tried to go back to my PS4 save of Axiom Verge. I have no idea where I'm meant to go

Not got it but I see it's getting a Switch release.

It's not bad. There's one or two bosses that can be quite difficult if you approach them the wrong way but nothing particularly frustrating.

Thanks on both counts Jawa! Might go for the save 1p on £15 option! :)

Ooh, hadn't realised this was out! I played a fair amount on PC but decided to save it for Switch as it seems like the perfect fit for the system! Loved what I played so can't wait to jump back in.

Random question - has there been any official word on virtual console for the switch and when it might be coming? Googling shows lots of speculation and articles discussing how important it is, how Nintendo need to get it up and running etc. but nobody seems to have any real details?

Argh I just bought Shovel Knight (see: Currently Playing thread) but was thinking about buying this. I hope I've not made the wrong choice! Axiom Verge still in my watchlist :D

I started playing this this weekend so...

What’s your verdict, GRcadians? I think a few of you have picked it up?

Unexpectedly Australian

It's good but some of the humour is hit-and-miss with me. It's a very self-aware game, which means it lacks the childlike whimsy and optimism that I was hoping for which is present in the camelot games of old. Still fun, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't quite fill the niche I was hoping it would.

The mismatching UI elements are also really off-putting too :(

Thanks, OR. Yeah, I was kinda getting that impression. It has arrived at a time where lots of new stuff is launching and I think I’ll pass on this.

I tried a switch last weekend at a family gathering, playing mario kart on one of the joycons; as someone with large hands it was not a great input method.

Did you use the joycon grips? Makes a big difference for me...

I struggled for 10 minutes to remove the joycon grip from one of my joycons, eventually succeeding with two people's full attention

Never again
