First thing is that it needs to be USB-C. And the Switch apparently requires 15V/2.6A to charge.

I personally wouldn't risk it unless someone verifies a safe setup.

I use a portable charger, it works fine. It's the charging cable I was most worried about, which is why I bought it in-store rather than online (dodgy cables can do bad things I am told).

It's not as quick as charging from mains, but it does charge when the Switch is on sleep. When playing the battery still goes down, but slower than without the charger I believe.

I often plug my Switch in to either a normal phone charger or my laptop via a USB cable. It just charges more slowly than using the official kit. I also sometimes plug my phone into the Switch cable and it hasn't broken yet.

(Amusingly the battery will drain, albeit slowly, if you play it plugged in to a normal phone charger -- the power it's getting isn't quite enough I guess!)

Fun fact (that I personally verified) - if you plug a Switch into a macbook, it will actually charge the macbook rather than the Switch!

Caved and bought Rocket League again on Switch.

I've ended up with a spare copy of LA Noire that I can't return. £25 delivered? Sold.

Looks like WWE 2k18 is coming on the 21st. Less that a weeks notice. Already paid it off on shopto so it looks like I'm going to be swamped with switch games.

It’s arriving in the eShop on 23 November at £19.99. Tempted... albeit the Switch release schedule has gone crazy. In a good way .

I'm looking forward to meeting up with Captain Viridian again on Friday. Plus, of course, the terrific tunes .

It is superb, Karl. The gameplay is ace and the soundtrack is sensational. It's one of my favourite games on 3DS .
