Ahah, if nothing else the joycons can function as one or two extra controllers for local multiplayer, preferably the two of them in the grip.

There is that, of course. So long as they don't have to be attached for dock or stand mode.
EDIT: That wasn't very clearly written. I was going through a car wash at the time. What I meant to say is, I was just concerned that the joycons might have to be left connected for some functions, while I'd much rather keep them disconnected and not gathering dust.

ShopTo have them in stock... but they're £62. A few quid less if you're a silver or gold member.

And bought. Cheers again.

Now... screen protectors - any consensus on the best? (Sorry, I've not followed this thread as I didn't think I'd be getting one anywhere near this soon.)

So Blaster Master 0 is a bit good.

Picked it up last night along with Snake Pass expecting to get sucked into that and to be mildly amused by BM0. Turns out it was the other way around.

Put on BM0 for a "quick" go and spent nearly an hour with it, great fun. I love the switching between the tank, on foot and top-down modes. Everything plays a bit differently. Great game for the train as well.

Snake Pass is good as well, though I need to spend more time with it to get to grips with the movement and climbing. Only on the second level but I hope they open up a bit as so far they've been pretty small.

Blaster Master Zero is really good, rather easy until right near the end though.

My understanding is that if you contact them they'll repair them for free. But they're not undertaking any major repair program.

Had a weird problem with one of mine the other day actually. Left Joy-Con wouldn't wake up at all, even though it was attached to the Switch. Right one was fine, but the left just didn't do anything. Ended up fixing it by pressing the small grey "Sync" button on the inside edge, but I was genuinely worried it was busted, especially as it had almost a full charge.

I've had the happen with both Joycons in the past couple of weeks. Seems to happen when I go more than a day without waking the system but a quick sync sorts it out.

The repair for the left Joycon seems quite simple, with a piece of conductive foam being placed next to the antenna.

I'm not so sold on BM0. The co-op is tacked on and not fun, with the second player just getting an aiming reticule. It further trivialises what was already an easy game.

I find the top down sections completely imbalanced, in that as long as you're at max energy you can just spam the wave weapon and everything becomes trivial. There is no chance of level design because my gun fills half the screen and isn't affected by terrain, and does a ton of damage.

Otherwise the level design lacks any flair. It's all just... forgettably generic? Like sure it's serviceable as a game but I'm not going to remember any specifics of the levels here (apart from maybe memories of being constantly needlessly slowed down by rising purple goop).

Also the game tells me I got a map but I have not been able to find any way of seeing a map. The controls in the game are weeird.

Third level onwards it does step up the game, don't worry. The first world is basically a tutorial so you can learn to snake :)

Good to know about Snake Pass. I figured it would open up, especially as I am in the very, very beginning stages.

I'd disagree about the controls for BM0, not had any issues at all with them.
Level design, well it's early days but it is a bit generic in places.
As for the map if you press + and go into the menu, keep pressing R to get to it. I did have to figure that out myself though, but it's quite helpful. A small minimap would be appreciated.

But I'm enjoying it so far. :D

I think the lack of a d-pad hurts the game (no fault of its own), but I don't really have an issue with the controls - I just think they're weird. Like having to press b on the menu screens rather than a.

I've not really found that. In fact I'm prefering the stick for the top down sections and the D-Buttons for the rest.

The A/B thing is odd, but there an option to swap them I believe.

The wave beam you get is absolutely awful against the final boss. I kicked it's ass with varying my weapons.

Also to use map press start and then R or ZR.

Saw my first Switch 'in the wild' yesterday, a chap playing Breath of the Wild on the train home. Looked like he was stuck on the motion-control puzzle.

I saw the exact same thing coming back on a train about 2 weeks ago, i chatted to the guy afterwards about it as i was wondering what puzzle he was doing although i had a bit of a guess due to his movement. I probably would have skipped that one till i got home
