I'll check that out. I haven't actually played anything on my new thing yet, but I'm still looking for more stuff.

I have to say, it felt weird going back to the old two-stage ways of having to buy credit before buying the games.

Had been looking forward to Graceful Explosion Machine since the Nindie showcase the other month. Bought it as it's only a tenner, 3 levels in and I'm already having a blast.

Yeah, played a few levels last night and it seems like a lot of fun.

I've been playing Song of the Deep on XB1, and I reckon Insomniac should get that onto Switch. It would be a good fit.

I went to play Little Inferno last night. I had no idea it was touchscreen-only, so tried to play it on the TV. The game just shut down the controller and perpetually stayed on the intro screen, with no warning that it wasn't TV-mode compatible. Thought it was borked until I decided to try it in handheld mode. Bit of a silly design oversight.

Does it not use the IR pointer/gyro? Would have thought they would put that in.

No idea. It's all new to me. Does the Pro controller have that?

It uses the right joycon as a pointer.

Cheers. Would have been kind of handy if the game had told me that.

When I played it at my mates it did. Told me to put the joycon flat to calibrate. Maybe there is a bug when using a pro controller on first run, I don't know.

I'm slightly confused about the inconsistencies between docked and handheld mode.

Surely the game should run identically in both modes - it's the same hardware, and the dock is just a dock with an HDMI connection, isn't it?

But then I read reports saying that Zelda runs better in handheld mode, and Lego City runs better in docked mode.

What's going on? It's the same system and the same game cart...It's also annoying as the games should be 100% identical in both modes.

Resolution is higher on the TV (1080p as opposed to 720p), supposedly the console can draw more power when docked allowing it to run at higher speeds which in turn allows it to output at a higher resolution, I'm not sure if that was ever confirmed though.

I believe Lego City runs at 720p in both docked and handheld mode which might explain the better performance when docked. I do think, in Zelda at least, that the difference is marginal though.

The dock has a fan which means that the Switch can run at higher speeds as the extra fan will cool it down. This is why BotW runs at 900p in docked mode but 720p in handheld mode.

Not quite, there's no fan in the dock.

You are right about the GPU clock speeds being higher in docked mode, but this is more down to battery power issues (could also be heat related, with the fan in the Switch itself being able to be powered on more when docked).

Anyway, its complicated by the output modes required. When in handheld mode there's no reason to be outputting more than a 720p image of the screen on the Switch, in docked mode however obviously a 1080p image would be preferable, some games will therefore give you a better image in docked mode, taking use of the extra speed the docked mode offers, other games might not go for raising the resolution and instead just use that extra power to produce a more stable framerate.

I bought a switch today. Where are the games? There is nothing to do with it.

Not interested in Zelda and 1-2 Switch doesnt have much life to it. Also contsantly having to change the controller configuration in 1-2 is super dumb.

Mario Kart and Puyo Puyo Tetris are out the end of this month. We are getting a Nintendo Direct this week which should give dates for Splatoon 2 and ARMS

Snipperclips is fantastic with another person and it works with a single pair of Joy-Cons.
