I've had my Switch for three weeks today. So.. what is my current thinking about the Switch?
+ I really enjoy being able to play both on my TV and in portable mode; it's more useful than I had expected and the ease of "switching" is fantastic
+ I like using both the joy-con and the Pro Controller. My preference is to use the joy-con for portable mode and the Pro Controller with the TV; but both are comfortable and work well
+ Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is excellent. As an owner of the Wii U version I was dubious about getting it again, but it's a terrific package; the new Battle mode, DLC inclusion and improved 1080p display output are lovely
+ Zelda...
just! It does run slightly smoother than the U version but there isn't a lot in it. Still a terrific game, though.
Even though I have barely played it + The system software works really quickly...
- ...but that is because it is stunningly basic:
> The console desperately needs some form of user communication! You can make friends but there is barely any purpose for doing so at the moment. I have been playing some Kart tournaments on my Switch... arranging them via comms on the Wii U and then messaging folk about the results on the U afterwards
> The eShop isn't anything like as attractive as the U version. It can get away with it at the moment because there isn't much in it, but I'd imagine enhancements must be in progress
> Why have we got Nintendo Accounts, NNIDs, Switch IDs and Friend Codes? It's an absolute spaghetti junction of identities and passwords. Once you're setup it's straight-forward, but it is still messy behind the scenes
> Why is MyNintendo not integrated into the Switch?Overall, I'm glad to have jumped on board and I love using the console. I just hope the system software enhancements arrive sooner rather than later.
