You’re gonna be set for quite an adventure this December, Garth :toot: .

It’s amazing to think that the Switch has only been out for nine months. I’ve had my system for seven and, after a slightly slow start, I’ve grown to really enjoy playing on the wee machine. I have bought more games than I’d anticipated (which was the reason I held off at launch, saying that I didn’t want to fall into that trap :fp: ) but it is just great fun!

The only thing I remain a bit frustrated about are the system features. I like the simple, fast interface but I am missing the features (Miiverse, friend comms, Badge Arcade, Streetpass, Channels and even a decent game time log) that I enjoyed using on past Nintendo systems. They added personality to the machines and I hope that Nintendo is working on things along this line.

I am also amazed that the red screen / Nintendo logo and the lovely “click” sound only ever appear the first time you power up the console!

Yeah Switch > U already in my opinion. If they can get a way of putting Mario Maker on there my Wii U is going in the loft.

Nintendo really solved a lot of the Wii U's issues with the Switch-namely the software library and having a clear USP. The biggest problem they need to fix now is the online but I'm hopeful the delay to the subscription cost is so they can launch a better online service.

When I play Mario Kart, I sometimes notice my acceleration go a bit, but only for a split second. I slow down, and the engine revs). It literally is just for a microsecond though.I swear this didn't happen to me on the Wii U version...

I was getting a problem too but mines wouldn't connect at all.

In Mario oddessey I couldn't try the default controls as my right joy con wouldn't get detected.

I pressed one of the buttons in the side and it seems to have fixed it when I have them on the switch need to try them seperated again.

That's Odyssey, Zelda and Kart bought for my Switch. :toot: A friend said he'd also lend me 1-2 Switch purely for Christmas shenanigans. Any decent prices on a Pro Controller at the moment? Cheapest I can find is about £53.

Mine arrived today :toot:

However, the £31 SD card I ordered failed to arrive (despite showing as delivered). I'm sure Amazon will sort it/refund me - if not, the whole Cyber Monday discount has been slightly undermined

(In fairness, they have already chucked me a fiver as compo - now I just need the mem card.)

Edit: can i get up and running without the SD card? If I add the card at a later date, will it just act as bolt-on storage, or will any sort of reformatting be required?

No official news, Rubix. I would be surprised to see Wii U games arrive on VC for the Switch; the lack of dual screen functionality would mean that the games would need significant coding changes - even for cases where the dual screen aspects are minimal.

Welcome, Poser, to Switch Squad :toot: . You’ll be fine to forget about the memory card for the moment; you can plug it in (the slot is behind the kick-stand) whenever you’re ready.

Think I ordered the same Micro-SD card and it came today, hopefully yours will show up soon. You'll be fine without the card for now, I lasted from launch until today and bought a number of downloadable titles. The console will do a quick update once you insert the card and automatically add it as extra storage - data management itself is pretty simple.

Welcome to the Switch Squad.

^^^ amazing trailer!

Crawl is launching in the Switch eShop on 19 December. I’ve never heard of it before but it looks ace. It’s a rogue-like dungeon crawler where you start as the hero and fight your mates (or bots) who are controlling the baddies. When you get caught, someone else plays the hero whilst you control a baddie!

It seems really cool - and I love the pixel presentation! - but the fly in the ointment is that whilst it offers local play (great!) there are no online options.

Will still look out for reviews and thoughts, though.

That is a strawberry float awesome trailer. No online renders it pointless to me though, unless it works well in single player but it sounds like its built with the multiplayer in mind.

It is terrific, isn’t it? I really like the pixel images with the “screen break” effect over it... superb!

Same here, man - none of my real-life pals* are really into gaming. I think there are a couple of skill levels for the bots but, reading up on the game for other formats, it’s not as satisfying as playing with others. Adding an online option would make it way more attractive.

* “There are three of them... THREE!” etc.

Crawl is an absolutely immense game. Lack of online may hurt but local multiplayer makes it come alive. I got it for cheap on PS4 but it is so well suited for Switch. Get 3 mates in and it becomes an incredible experience.

How is it with bots?
