I just treated myself to the Splatoon-themed Pro Controller :toot: £55 at Shopto, which is the cheapest I've seen it.

That should go nicely with my Mario Red and Neon Yellow Joycons :)

Some news on Switch today/yesterday

First up, Furi, the boss fight indie game, has been confirmed for Switch and is coming early 2018

Secondly, many of you may have seen this but an internal EA document has pretty much confirmed a Nintendo Direct is happening in January 2018

Should see a lot of details on what we can expect from Ninty on Switch for 2018

Pokemon in the style of BOTW
Luigi's Mansion 3
Pikmin 4
Z zero
Star Fox without stupid controls
Wave Race

Also an update on the online stuff would be good. Let me download everything Nintendo has ever released and I'll be happy.

Wish my image sig would work

It is rather a mystery. Retro has been working on a new game since early 2014, suggesting that originally they must have been developing on the Wii U and at some point they transferred over to Switch. It’s coming up to four years and we haven’t seen anything, though... it’s gonna have to be a hell of a game to recoup that kind of cost. I hope it is!

Thinking about a Nintendo Direct in January, I’d love to see...

Possibilities

> Animal Crossing. Pocket Camp wetted my appetite but, for me, the experience is too slim. I want to see something like New Leaf 2... and without crow-barred in money transactions
> Mario Kart 8 DLC. The game is already packed but it’d be ace to see a pack containing, say, six new tracks
> Virtual Console. Please, Nintendo... get this right. No silly stuff like too-high pricing or to too-dark colours
> Some form of communication for friends. I want to be able to message and chat with my Switch pals!
> Some new software features for the Switch; things that brought a sense of fun to past Nintendo systems such as Streetpass, Badge Arcade, Doodle, Channels and the mighty Miiverse. I also want software timer tracking that matches the excellent capabilities of the 3DS version!

Dreams

> Fallout 3 and / or Fallout 4
> Mad Max 2
> A new Zelda adventure. Maybe, just maybe, Nintendo could have been developing a new game based on the existing BotW game; no technical advances but a whole new adventure to embark upon...

Did you ever try out the parental control app? I thought that had better tracking already

I think it does, man... but I just want to do this on my Switch like I can with my 3DS. I wouldn’t mind if I could at least do it on the main Nintendo Online app rather than the parental control app.

It's a pretty bizarre decision because they're obviously tracking the time, it's just how they're presenting it.

Urrgh, I forgot how expensive Nintendo games are. I have Odyssey already and Mario/Rabbids on the way (part of the bundle).

On my hit list I have:

Mario Kart
Zelda (not til I've finished Mario, TBH)
Stardew Valley (I know that's cheaper)

...and that's sort of it for games I can justify spending proper money on at the moment.

After that, I'm thinking about when we have the family round at Xmas and how it'll be fun to play stuff like 1-2-Switch, Arms and Snipperclips, but they all feel pretty expensive, especially when you consider adding more Joycons. Is Arms decent on an entry-level basis, in the same way Wii Sports was? Or should I suck it up and get 1-2-Switch, which I agree looks shite but at least it'll get people involved?

I still want to see a diddy Kong karting sequel. We only ever see one mario kart game in a consoles life cycle and I think there’s definitely room for another if they keep it a couple of years apart.

I don't think Arms is anything like what Wii Sports was on entry-level terms. It takes some getting use to, to play properly. You could probably have some laughs in multiplayer with the motion controls I guess but I can see it being frustrating for beginners.

VC, metroid and F Zero plz.

My ex has volunteered to lend me her copy of Zelda, wee hero. Still see myself spending plenty though, Stardew Valley sounds right up my street on top of others. Rabbids might have to get traded in upon rapid completion to ease the cost of MK8

ARMS is fine for anyone that's played a videogame before, but it's not as accessible for one's proverbial grandma as Wii Sports was.

1-2 Switch is probably worth it for the voodoo HD rumble balls.

Cheers guys. I like the look of Arms but will leave it for now: Overcooked and 1-2-Switch look like the way to go.

Just keep staring out the window all afternoon while trying to get work done. Have to go out for a bit this evening so I'm praying it doesn't come then as no one will be in to collect. Apparently can come up to 8pm.

Saw a Yodel van turn round earlier, strawberry floater better not have driven off with my switch.

Multi-player Overcooked is chuffing hilarious!
