Guys, yes, I have tried the NeoGrip (Skull & Co) controller. It comes with three slide-on grip options and I find it to be comfortable to use.

Image

I haven't used the NeoGrip that much, though, because I have preferred to use Hori Split Pad Pro, which are larger joy-con. They offer good comfort and have larger sticks.

Both of these options are good choices. The NeoGrip allows you to use your standard joy-con whilst the Split Pad Pro gives a more "standard console controller" feel.

The perfect Switch handheld experience is a sort of white whale for me. For five years I just didn't play it handheld as the official joycon are really quite horrible to use but I really wanted to start doing so, buying a Hori Split Pad a couple of years ago. I didn’t really like them so I got the Nitro Deck last year for its hall effect sticks and rumble. But it has an inexplicable design flaw where they have mimicked the layout of the symmetrical joycon, making the right stick pretty much useless.

Now the Mobapad M6 HD that came out recently is meant to be the actual answer to these problems. After seven years someone has finally made good joycons for the Switch but they're £70, only come in white, and are only sold on AliExpress. :dread:

It can be tricky finding the perfect setup for Switch; you may have already seen but there is a new, improved version of the Nitro Deck - Nitro Deck + - coming out soon; click here to find out more.

I have actually. It was quite nice to play. Although it was pretty obvious it wanted to be earthbound. But fun enough

Yeah I saw that redesign but I don’t see how it’s going to fix the issue really. The buttons and stick are still parallel to each other rather than being offset, so your grip and position of your thumb is going to still have to be very awkward to be able to use it.

I haven't played Eastward myself, Fisher. It's good that shy guy has and could share his verdict, though!

Yeah, maybe the buttons on the right-side would be better-positioned above the stick, Cuttooth, as they're in use more than the stick. It'll be interesting to see if reviews mention how this approach feels.

Something I noticed on that Nitro Deck+ is they have added buttons either side of the left/Right sticks

Whilst not a perfect solution you could probably assign the A and B buttons to these so they are closer to your thumb whilst on the sticks? Then X and Y on 2 of the back paddle buttons where your fingers rest.

It would probably be easier to just assign all four face buttons to the four back paddles but it doesn't seem like the most elegant solution on something that itself costs £70.

Am I wrong in thinking that N64 era Nintendo bots are punishingly overpowered? We all know about the way Mario Kart games cheat, and the computer teams on Mario Strikers on the Wii make Man City's books look legit. But the N64 CPU characters are something else.

We've played 3-player Mario Party a bit recently and even the easy CPU character is insane - so much so that it's not fun for kids

I then played a bit of Mario Golf and Luigi sank a 161 yard chip in. He's the strawberry floating first character you try to unlock and he sinks a chip from one hundred and sixty one yards. I'm trying to learn the strawberry floating game here!

Play some stroke play first before you head into match play. You're not ready to face the king yet.

Or abuse save states. :shifty:

Started playing Harvestella. Pretty cute and charming so far.

Not a dealbreaker but it was one I was planning on playing in handheld mode but it's a bit blurry. Looks sharper docked with slightly worse performance but prefering it that way.

Browsing the eShop for current discounts and there’s a game on the eShop about a detective cat called Sherlock Purr 2.

How is it not called Purrlock Holmes?

Zelda: Age of Ages has a really weird glitch that has the colours all wrong, a quick trip to the pause/menu screen and back fixes but my god it was getting annoying.

Found a fix though, save it every now and then within the rom, as in save it in the game and it will fix it.

Cool games added this time - Japan had a different game added instead of sugoi hebereke (since it had that already). Japan got a game called Marvelous which is a weird Zelda style action RPG that was made by Aonuma before he was higher up in the Zelda team so if you have the Japanese app give it a go. They also got the Battletoads game that was added to Europe a few weeks ago.
