I even swapped Youtube to the dark theme once I realised there was one, so whenever I have to go back to the white theme for settings and such, it's a "MY EYES ARE BURNING" experience.
And yeah, first thing was to swap to black on Switch. The white was just a little too powerful, I felt.

Good to hear that you're venturing into the world of Switch, Osito! Yeah, I didn't take to Aces (it's the only Switch game that I've traded in so far) but some folk are really enjoying it (I believe Jazzem has put around 40 hours in). I prefer to keep the joy-con connected to the console and use the Pro when in docked mode. It's great that you've gotten fun out of the excellent Odyssey!

Tomous wrote:...We don’t know what the likes of Retro or Next Level Games have been working on for example.

Retro's project really is a mystery. I guess they must have been working on something(s) since 2014 when Tropical Freeze launched... and, as I believe they're a developer of reasonable size, probably before that. My thinking is that either they were some way down the track on a Wii U project and they've been expanding the scope of that for Switch; or they ditched a project and started on something afresh. It's incredible that we haven't heard an inkling from them for four years. Maybe part of their team did the Trop Freeze port to Switch?

I had to Google Next Level to remind myself what they'd done before (Luigi Mansion 2 and Metroid Fed Force). I'd imagine that they could be involved in making the upcoming Luigi's Mansion game for 3DS?

Meanwhile, I've started my Saturday in a somewhat rebellious fashion. I've changed my Switch theme from white to black. Never wanted to before, but now it just feels right. I'm kinda hoping it's not gonna be too much longer before I can apply an Animal Crossing theme, though.

I believe the Luigi’s Mansion port is being handled by Grezzo (who previously did the Majora’s Mask and OoT ports).

I think it’s fair to say NLG aren’t doing Federation Force 2, but their past games include Punch-out on Wii and Mario Strikers in addition to Luigi’s Mansion 2. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have one of those franchises in development for Switch at the moment.

Regarding Retro, the general consensus seems to be their first post TF project hit problems and may have been cancelled/delayed with the Starfox Grand Prix project starting in 2016 ish. If true that may be ready for a 2019 release. All rumours though of course.

The N30 Pro controller that was being given away free with Retro Gamer subs arrived today. Not a bad little controller, maybe a little small for my meat hands.

Worth remembering that Retro seems to be a developer permanently mired in crisis. Remember the glut of cancellations before Metroid Prime actually eventually got released? The fact the game turned out so good meant people largely forgot about the chaos that predated its release.

This type of thing but preferably one that can be docked too.

I have the one in the first link, like you I found the Switch uncomfortable to play handheld but that grip has changed all that. I very much recommend it as it was well worth it for me (I play predominantly handheld as well)

What's tedious is your backseat moderation. Block posters you don't like if you want. Stop whinging about them.

You dont really need a battery pack, unless you're going on some 4 hour+ trip, but then it's likely you'll have access to a mains outlet somewhere like on a train/aeroplane.

If you're going to play in docked mode a lot, I'd highly recommend a Pro Controller. In terms of battery power for playing on the go, I would get something like this to keep in my bag to charge my phone or Switch:

Cheers!

Not sure how i'll play it yet. One of the things i'll need to figure out is playing it with headphones so as not to disturb the missus. The PS4 has a useful headphone jack in the controller. Can't find any info on whether the pro controller does or not and the set up I currently have means i'm leaning towards not playing it docked.

Pro controller doesn't have a headphone socket.

What are people's thoughts on Bomberman R? I loved a bit of Bomberman back in the day and the video looks good, but even on sale it's still £25 odd which seems pretty steep for what it is. Has it been 'cheap' (by Nintendo standards of course) in the past?

It’s good, but not as good as in its 90s heyday. Saturn Bomberman and Bomberman ‘94 probably have more charm, but I’ve had a lot of fun with it. Plenty of unlockable characters from Konami games (though it’s a fair old grind to earn the unlocks), the single player game is as good as its ever been and local multiplayer is ace. Online is pretty dead. I paid £25 to get it from Argos after missing it for £20 on a game collection deal, and like having it in the collection, but having folk on hand to play regularly is probably advisable.
