Because while the tracks work well for the arcade, and they'd be a nice bonus in a console game, they feel unneeded when the series already includes a new version of each of those locations per game. As DLC, I would welcome it, especially since I played one of the tracks that got ported to the CTGP and found it good.

Mario Kart GP is crap though. The handling is terrible, the tracks are bland and the new power ups are uninspiring. Bar the Mario characters it just feels like a knock-off kart game.

Mario Kart 8 is ahead of it in every way imaginable.

I imagine the GP tracks, which are pretty wide, wouldn't be suited to the home console's handling. They would be even more dull.

So why not offer it as a cheaper Eshop only game, or do you think it would damage the brand?

So I have an 8Bitdo N30 Pro controller on order - mainly for my Mac, but it says it also works with a Switch - anyone tried one?

No but I've heard they're really good, especially if you want a proper dpad.

We've got guests and their son has been playing the switch most of the time. As the tv was free I suggested he could dock it and use that, he went to pass the switch but did it not looking and dropped the strawberry floating thing :dread: Luckily I caught it before it hit the floor but strawberry floating hell :dread:

This is why I usually hide my stuff when kids come round

Both the power-ups and handling wouldn't matter for DLC, and the tracks themselves would more than likely reworked to fit with the console game. That's the best option, just as a nod to the arcade tracks. There isn't a need to even put all of them in.
Just don't bring the full arcade games to console. They work better as arcade experiences.

Can I transfer the data from one SD card to a bigger one? I assume I could just plug them both into a pc and click and drag all the files between the two? Would that cause any issues. I bought a 32gb one a while back but that’s clearly not going to be big enough long term.

Yes you can, there are instructions on Nintendo's site. I had a fair bit of trouble getting my new sd card to not corrupt initially, but once it was sorted it was all good. Also it looks like you have to download everything once you've made the swap, but the moment you start a game it finds the old data right away.

Ok thanks I'll have a look and see if I can work it out.

I'm surprised you had enough time to play games, given the intense barrel-scraping in that post.

If you're going to get it, save it for Christmas

Edit: Just played the demo, the strawberry float at that cursor :|

Yeah it would be nice to play at Christmas time.

I wanted to come back on this after initially making the comparison as I didn't want to put anyone off the game. With regards the comparison to DS, the difficulty is less of thing if you're decent at platformers (I'm not). I see the similarities in the tone of the environment, the way in which you open shortcuts as you progress through the level, the fact that the currency you collect is lost when you die but you can return to the same spot to recover, it's also very slight on descriptive text with little to no tutorial, the resource management for recharging health. Also, like DS, the game is very fair - boss battles are tricky if you rush in, a measured approach usually ends up being much easier.

It also doesn't rely on muscle memory as much as something like Guacamelee does (in certain stages), which is good for an old git like me.

As a yardstick as to how bad I am at platformers, it's just taken me about 15 attempts to beat Hornet. Cracking sense of achievement though when I'd done it.
