Perhaps the arrival of Super Mario Maker Switch would please many people? Personally, the U version was the Mario game that I've played the most!

...okay, I just want a new 2D Mario for Switch in non-NSMB style that Nintendo themselves have designed the levels for. :P

Would rather new nsmb for switch tbh, but nsmb u is probably best nsmb title out there. 100%ed it on Wii U (but haven't done Luigi u, I really should )

I just want some new games that aren't strawberry floating Wii U ports or upscaled 3ds games

We've said this before on here but the way to sell Mario Maker 2 is have it follow a new 2D Mario with a brand new art style. Considering how well Mario sells, I'm surprised Nintendo don't have a new 2D entry lined up.

I want lots of Wii U ports because that console was a total failure and nobody bought it.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Apart from everybody on here who did and doesn't want to rebuy the same games over and over and over.

I'm sure both Wii U owners are very upset.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

You say that but...

...not too shabby.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I bought a Wii U this year to play all the Wii U games I never could. Would be rather miffed if they *all* came to Switch :slol:

Would love portable Wind Waker HD though. But I can't see that happening unless they did a Zelda bundle or something.

It’s not a bad thing to make older games available on newer platforms

It is when it's instead of releasing new stuff and the old system is still in circulation.

A question I genuinely don’t know the answer to is whether it is ‘instead of’. I get the feeling that completely different teams work on the ports and the new games, but might well be wrong.

Despite being a Wii U owner, I’ll still take more ports over more Mario & Luigi games being updated on 3DS. :dread:

I very much doubt ports are being released instead of new titles. Rather, they're using ports to fill gaps while their new stuff isn't ready. They had some big, big games in 2017, most of which had continued support/DLC after release. It's not really a surprise 2018 has been quiet. I'm expecting 2019 to have more new releases though.

I'm just thinking about the retail games developed (and, more generously, published) by Nintendo at this eighteen-month point.

New games for the Switch

Excellent: Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Good: Arms, Kirby Star Allies

Decent: Snipperclips Plus, Mario Tennis Aces, Fire Emblem Warriors, Sushi Striker

Hmmn: 1-2 Switch

Wii / Wii U ports for the Switch

Excellent: Zelda BotW, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2, Bayonetta 1&2, Donkey Kong Tropical

Good: Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad

Decent: Pokken Tournament, Go Vacation

I guess that I may have an "outlying" opinion about BotW and Splatoon 2; to me, I think of them as Wii U ports even though I recognise them as excellent titles. I wonder if it's the ports, third party and indie titles that have made the Switch so attractive, rather than the exclusive first party games?

The situation of ports and updates probably isn't unique to the Switch; I recall seeing rafts of them during the first year after the PS4 and XBO launches.

If we are gonna see a few more ports, I'd like to see Xenoblade Chronicles X!

I know this is nit-picky and everyone has their own opinion, but - harsh to put Sushi Striker on the same level as Mario Tennis Aces! SS is legitimately really good fun, and crucially isn’t hampered by curious design choices or patched-in omissions.

Spla2n is definitely not a port. It feels more like the Galaxy to Galaxy 2 switch. And BotW... eh, simultaneous release. Obviously it was Wii U-designed, but they were making pro-Switch decisions long before it came out. Move those into the other column and things look much better! (Also DKTF is only ‘good’, what are you on about there. :P )

I will agree that indies have done more to keep me playing my Switch than Nintendo’s ‘second tier’, though.

Personally I wasn't keen on Aces... but I know that Jazzem has really enjoyed it!

It's in the "Excellent" category, Balla' :-).
