One thing I did pick up was one of the comfort grips for the joycons as I think the texture to the grips is nicer than the smooth finish on the one included with the switch console.

You won’t miss not having a Pro Controller... until you start playing with one. Then it’ll be tough to go back to Joy-Cons!

Pro controller is the best controller ever in my opinion.

Joycons are okay but once you get a pro controller you won't look back.

I got two sets of joycons and 2 grips as I find them really comfy that way, plus when I go to handheld I don't want my experience compromised by the controls feeling different.

As someone who plays exclusively in handheld mode, I see no value in getting a Pro controller. If you plan on playing it docked or on a surface with the kickstand, then by all means blow some dough.

The only essential thing in my opinion is a screen protector.

I have no doubt this is the case...which is why I've never touched one!

I have a case and that's it

The bezel around the screen has actually got quite a few scratches now, but they are shallow and not on the screen so it's fine.

Mine doesn't have a mark on it as I'm not a child and I look after my stuff

Like I say, mine was showing scratches a week after opening, along the dock line. I was handling it with kid gloves at that point.

It's my landlords responsibility tbh

A quick estimate puts the number of times I've docked/undocked my switch at 2400, so I'm not surprised that the bezel has some light scratches

I'm so stupidly careful with it, to the point where it goes in to the dock in slow motion as I make sure it doesn't touch the thing at all until it hits the connection points.

...something I don't need to do now, thanks to my £10 screen protector!

I've been procrastinating on putting screen protector on Switch for over a year now, based on past experience I utterly loathe the process of applying one and trying not to catch dust particles and such...

...but on the other hand, I adore the peace of mind it brings whenever using a touch screen. Whenever I pick up TWEWY I'll certainly want it on by then

this was incredibly difficult to write without fully plunging into euphemism territory ._.

I don't use any form of screen protector for my Switch; generally, I'm really careful with my gear.

I would like to get a case but there are approximately 2,412 versions out there and, whenever I read up about one of them, "bad" aspects are highlighted and that deters me.

I hate it too, i got lucky and only had to throw one away due to trapping cat fur between it and the screen.

When rumors started of a revised switch in 2019, my first thought was "i hope its not more powerful, i really don't want to have to apply another screen protector".

That sounds like a right strawberry floating nightmare.

Also, I have a two year old in the house and it's comforting to know that he can't damage the screen if I happen to leave the Switch within reach.

It's a minor inconvenience

/Hans

It's a gooseberry fool design on the dock that it should even factor though. The thing should be padded on the inside.

Just buy one and don't worry about it
