Between that, the low sensitivity motion dungeons in BotW and Mario Oddysey hiding best variants of moves via motion control, it's pretty staggering how often they don't seem to accommodate for user comfort and practicality in undocked mode. A big middle finger to many disabled gamers too

I'll probably be playing it most days until I've completed it.

Now, I'm not excusing the lack of options because I believe it's extremely short sighted on their part, but is it that bad using gyro in handheld? I play Splatoon 2 with gyro all the time in handheld, and in some ways prefer it to on the TV.

I can't stand it, first thing I did in Splatoon 2 was turn off gyro

When I use the stick, everything moves exactly as I tell it to. When I'm not moving the camera, it stays perfectly how it was. With gyro the screen constantly shakes (that goes double if I'm on the bus), if I shuffle to get comfortable suddenly everything moves, if I change from sitting to lying down the whole thing goes completely out of whack.

Yeah I don't get along with gyro

I get it being inconvenient for playing when lying in bed but how much do you move that the screen is constantly shaking!? I mean, maybe on a bus I could see but it really shouldn't be moving that much unless you are. Also, do you not find yourself at a disadvantage not using gyro with Splatoon 2? It allows you to be significantly faster and more accurate once you get used to it, and I would have thought the majority of people online are using it.

I do not have steady hands :(

It might be a technical disadvantage but being good (TM) more than makes up for it when playing against literal children. I stopped playing Splatoon 2 anyway because I couldn't play Salmon Run

I was playing Pokemon Let's Go in the car the other day (I wasn't driving, obvs), and the motion controls for catching kept drifting. It's really weird. The shaking obviously does something to the gyro. It's even worse when you corner :slol:

I will almost certainly be buying a Switch by the end of this week. I need Smash Ultimate in my life, and hopefully there will be a good Switch deal going live that'll make me bite. Plus, the likes of Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, Mario Rabbids Gold Edition and a few other choice titles will ensure this will be a console that sees good use.

I was talking about this earlier to Corazon de Leon, but I do kinda see the Switch being a second Gamecube to me. I probably had/played about 1/8th the amount of games on that compared to my PS2, but overrall the amount of time I spent on each system was amazingly close. The killer apps of that system were just infinitely replayable, and that's the vibe I've also gotten from some Switch games (I have played some snippets of Breath and Odyssey and by christ I need them in my veins).

Looking forward to jumping on this train! :D

Yes, I believe it is due to launch tomorrow, LF! By most accounts it is meant to be a very good game. Supposedly some of the game's mechanisms are a wee bit obscure for newcomers but put some time into it and a better understanding starts to kick in. I wonder how popular it will be on Switch?

I would argue that not much has changed in the intervening years, but I think a lot of people tend to view their lives like that. Not bad right now, living in Glasgow on-and-off, tend to spend around 6 months of the year travelling and teaching short term contracts across Europe. Will probably continue doing that for a few years as it can be a nice earner and a fun experience while I figure out what I may want to settle into.

...which is where a Switch will be quite handy! See I can stay on topic.

Actually, what would be some non-Nintendo games people would recommend? I've kept my eyes on the format for a while so have a list of stuff that does interest me, though the pace at which I would likely get them is very slow. Hollow Knight, Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle and Enter The Gungeon are probably the ones that spring to mind off the top of my head.

Diablo 3 is great. Also reduced on Very.co.uk at the moment.

I also love Mario and Rabbids (it’s an Ubisoft game so qualifies). If you like Fire Emblem or Xcom you’ll like that!

Anyone able to see Warframe on the E shop? Not showing for me.
