In fairness I'd probably also be more receptive to the game if the fanbase that exploded across the internet after release wasn't so obnoxious

(This isn't a comment against anyone here, I'm sure you've all experienced some of it)

Got to agree on the music being great though!

re: multiple endings, I don't think I'm a big fan of "true" endings being locked behind multiple playthroughs. I either want to be able to get the true ending on a single playthrough (like in Hollow Knight to take a recent example), or if there are multiple paths I want all of them to be given equal weight. I've played through New Vegas multiple times and with multiple endings, but none of them are singled out by the game as the "true" ending - they are all equally valid.

I've never played Undertale either, it kind of slipped under my radar I think. It is on my Switch wishlist but there are so many other games on there that I may not get to it for a while!

I read you have to do a neutral route playthrough first

You get the neutral ending and then if you haven't killed anyone, you get told what to do. No 2nd playthrough if done properly I believe.

I'd noticed that not many of my games had backed up to the cloud; and now Nintendo Life has issued a guide about how to make the backups take place. Oh, Nintendo!

Looks like the NES pads can be pre-ordered now. They (or at least I) couldn't yesterday.

Tried a couple of NES games out, the interface is nice and slick but I can't see me getting much use out of it.

Annoying that the controls can't be re-mapped either, the buttons for SMB3 just seem wrong to me!

If it's any help, you can use X for B which may be a bit more natural to combine with A over the pad's actual 'B' button.

But aye hopefully button remapping comes down the line. Nice thing is they presumably can just update the overall emulator package, which wasn't really possible on past Virtual Consoles where each game came with its own individual emulator.

Urgh, tell me about it. They're worse then Potterheads. The video for the final boss music on YouTube? 61 million views. I mean, it's good but seriously. Play more games.

Risk of Rain has launched for Nintendo Switch today.

I hear that it’s another roguelike, I like the look of it though. Anyone played it before?

Oh no, you don't understand. It's not just obsessed Undertale fans. Toby Fox originally composed that final song, and a few others, for something much worse.

Homestuck.

Yeah I read that. I have no strawberry floating idea what Homestuck is, except a web comic.

I like Undertale, and I like Homestuck more.

Their fandoms are flippin' awful though.

Get 'em, lads.

I'm kidding, Undertale is great. The bare minimum I do know about Homestuck I've absorbed from exposure to the fans. Like radiation, only worse.

Finally added my card to the eShop, paid for the online subscription, had a little spree (Undertale, Mercenaries Saga Chronicles and Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon).

Completed the first chapter (or area) of Undertale. I went in knowing very little, and came out completely unnerved. It's both sinister and touching, after only an hour... Very excited to play more, but found myself not wanting to rush through it.

I noticed a couple of people on my friends list have both the UK and Japanese NES / Famicom apps. Are there different games on the Japanese version?

If you are thinking about getting a Switch... I've just noticed that RichardUK is selling an "as new" one for "around £200" :o .

S'pretty neat! Though crazily, JP Zelda retains its load times from the original disk release

Speaking of Zelda, I'm five dungeons in now (on regular NES version), mostly going by memory from previous playthroughs. Also cheesing the gambling mini game with save states <.<

How do you even access both versions? Just add a Japanese account to you family?
